I finally broke down and got my ML license late this afternoon. It's to cold to hold on to my bow while sneaking around, even wearing a glove. And I don't fancy sitting in a tree in this weather. On the way home I saw lot's of deer out feeding on the posted farms.

The guy that was going to hunt with me Saturday, bailed, as I figured he would. Don't know whats going on with hunters these days. We got good places to hunt but no one wants to go hunting. 15 years ago, the same guys were hunting every chance they got.

Got same problem here Ridge as far as camp. I still enjoy going but my drive has decreased considerably especially in adverse weather conditions as currently.
I'm already planning April fishing trips though. Guess im turning into one of those fair weather guys!! lol

We got good places to hunt but no one wants to go hunting. 15 years ago, the same guys were hunting every chance they got. 15 years ago I was gungho yet. Things change. One problem, for me, is that I no longer have an expectation of seeing a deer while hunting.

I was considering going out this am. I knew the temps would be better until the winds are suppose to pick up about noon.....but I just decided to continue my .223 reloading. I called my B-I-L to see if he wanted to go next week, when the temps are suppose to reach a balmy mid 20's. He and I will go out then.

I'm hunting for my deer in the freezer.Enjoying the venison meatloaf she made yesterday.I'm glad I was able to take a couple in the earlier seasons.I also got my customary miss with the flintlock then.

We went out and chased them today. We got another doe, and the same hunter missed a deer on the previous drive. We also had a miss fire, snow has been light but steady all day, hard to keep guns dry.
Was my last day hunting this season, we quit a little early as a few of us had things to get done......and that wind is howling out here right now.

It's supposed to be -23 with the wind chill here tomorrow. It blowing hard here now and looking out across the hills, it makes the tree look as if they are hidden by smoke.
I was going to take a walk about and try to catch one bedded in a hemlock patch behind the house. It might work, but the thought of gutting and dragging one home will likely keep me indoors 'till we get a break........I suppose I could be tying flies instead of typing on the laptop. confused-smiley-013

You can never go wrong tying flies. Seems when trout fishing rolls around....I never have enough of whatever the fish are biting on.

What do you guys tie the fly's too ?
And where do you find fly's this time of year ?
Do you live trap them in the summer and keep them in a fly condo of some sort until you decide to tie them up ?
Is this fly tying some kind of fly rodeo ?
Inquiring minds want to know.......

Saw deer all day, missed twice. My buddy took a big fat doe. Deer have to move to survive in this weather. I'm sure I'll see a bunch.

I think the coldest morning I hunted was -25. It wasn't windy that morning though.
