I was hunting about 30 yards from a scrape that last week, was "just a small spot." Yesterday it was a big spot with hoof scrapes abounding!! Me thinks the next few weeks will be very active!!!

I saw a single deer at 8:30 this morning. A small six point that was less than 10 yards from the tree I was in before I noticed it. It snooped around for about five minutes and rubbed a small sapling before strolling off with his nose to the ground. One of my brothers stopped in for a little while. He also had a small buck pass under his stand just after day light. while we had a cup of coffee on my porch, two deer ran through my field, one chasing the other. It was too far to see if it was a buck on a doe, two bucks, or two does. I would guess(maybe hope) it was a buck after a hot doe. Man, I love this time of year!

Well. Slowest November on record for me. Two almost full days sits and zero deer. Not sure what the hay is going on. Sitting my best stands that haven't been sat all year too!

I saw what looked like a decent buck at about 80 yards out from where I was perched along a bench. He was moving away and would stop and listen to a grunt or bleat, but after standing around awhile he kept moving the direction he started.
I saw a flock of trukeys and heard them for about a hour 'till I watched them go to roost just above me, but no other deer 'till I started climbing back don the tree. He must have thought te bark being scraped by my climber was being done by another buck. He came bounding down from the top of the hill and loocked up the brakes just under my tree within feet of my bow that I had lowered to the ground just before the turkeys roosted. It was too dark to be sure, but he looked like a tall 8 point with about a 14" spread. He didn't seem to want to leave 'til he found the buck he thought was there. And even after I dropped my fanny pack to the ground he only trotted abot twnty yards away and stood there watching me start climbing down the tree again.
I got situated in my stand before 2pm and it was about 6:30 by the time I made it to the house. Not a lot of action for this time of year. I haven't drawn on a buck yet this season, but unless things really pick up for me by Thrusday, any legal buck that gives me a good, close shot may make a trip to the freezer.

I passed up 4 legal bucks early in the season. Since then it has been slow. I sure hope next week picks up!

This season thru yesterday, I had seen a grand total of seven bucks, four of them legal, and only six antlerless deer. It has been a pretty good season for me. Larry has seen bucks nearly every day the past week, but has yet to take a shot at one. Dave is not seeing deer for some reason.

The slowest I've seen in one evening was mamma and her little one. The best has been on large 8 point that I could not get into position to shoot....and about a dozen doe. The most was 16 doe and a spike and the big one!!
i can sympathize with those who are seeing nothing or next to nothing. I've had years like that. Plus.....even though I'm seeing buck....no guarantee that I'll bag one.

Yet if one didnt know the area they would think there isnt any the way its been. They must be getting with the times and now have radar!

Luck is spelled persevrance. It requires that one spend enough time in the woods to get lucky. I always have faith that I will get lucky if I just get out there enough. Sometimes it just doesn't happen, though. I still won't call that being unlucky. After all, that time spent in the woods sure beats time spent working at a job all hollow. And, if all else fails, the supermarket has meat for sale. Restaurants will even cook it for you.

I firmly believe that....at least in archery season, if you get out there and keep your "hunting wits" ....and stay focused, the odds are in your favor. And the more your out there....the more your odds increase.
However, like most things in life, a little luck, and timing always contributes to success!!

Boy, did you hit the nail, Dave. Timing is darned near everything. You have to be there and ready when that moment comes. I used to define hunting as hours and hours of observing mostly nothing, sometimes followed by a few seconds of extreme excitement, which excitement is usually followed by long periods of pleasant contemplation of those few seconds. And, those few seconds make for a lifetime of memories that, like a good vintage wine, just get better with age. And boy oh boy do I have memories!

3 all day sits and zero deer. Slowest November for me ever. Took the morning off today to catch up around the house, vote, and wait for this heavy band of rain to pass. Plan to head out all afternoon.

Im debating taking Thursday off but not sure. Its either use it then or the first Saturday of rifle. With the amount of deer Im seeing it might be better to wait?

I would say wait. When rifle starts you have a lot more guys out pushing 'em everywhere. But again.....the more your out.....the higher your chances.

Hunted from 1pm till dark. Another blank. Thats 4 blanks in a row during a time when I see typically see multiple bucks per day.

I did some stillhunting on Saturday. The wind was in my favor and covered my noise. Jumped a spiker out of his bed at about 25 yds or so. Thicker than snot where I was.
Was hunting along a log trail on the edge of the thick stuff and had a big six point at 20 yds. Could barely see him in the briars. No shot.
A great day

Where I hunt in my playground, I've bounced up to multiple deer....then down to only a few. I've been hunting near a scrape....but I think I'm going to change my method and location. Not far from where I'm at.....but I've seen deer in a few other places on that 100 acre piece where the travel of 'em is somewhat consistent.

Getting ready to head out to a stand and saw a shooter out in the middle of the cut corn about 1430 today. As I got close to the stand, jumped a buck and doe. Definitely should have been here earlier.
