I will start it off as we get an early jump here in the SRA's.
Went out in the morning and had two legal bucks come past at 10 yards right after first light. Both had 4 points on their left side. One had 2 on the other side and the other buck had 3. Let them go hoping for a baldie. No more deer seen in the morning. Went out and braved the heat in the afternoon and seen the same two bucks. No does seen. I have does on the camera but they no showed yesterday.
Felt good to be in the stand again in Pa. The long haul begins as I usually do around 30 sits a season.

Good luck.I hope the EHD is reduced by all the rain this year. Haven't heard of any confirmed cases this year in our area, thank god. We just have another month to get through and the danger should be gone till next year.

Dave (every camp needs one), Larry, and I hit the woods in earnest Friday and Saturday. No, season has not opened in Somerset County. We were putting up treestands and doing walkabouts to try to determine where to hunt. We located and erected (is that like having an ere---oh, never mind) two stands in new locations that look promising, and set a chair in one place we want to spend some time watching. Things look promising for the Camp Rip-N-Tear gang this year. We do have some quality bucks in residence, and a few that will satisfy the meat hunters among us. Lots of does too, and a number of them had twin fawns this season. And to top it off, this looks like a super acorn year. The white oak that hangs over the cabin kept dropping them on the new metal roof. Funny how one of those little white oak acorns can sound like a .22 shot when it hits a metal roof. I love that sound! As we usually get a late frost, our acorn crop is spotty. This year we did not have a hard frost after sometime in March. Larry and I will probably hit camp for a few days around the beginning of archery season. I don't get really serious about it until the rut kicks in, but Larry does. The puzzling thing this year is that we have next to no bear sign, and I haven't got a photo of a bear since June. Maybe they will wander back into our area when the corn crop has been picked? Here is one nice buck we haven't seen before. Some will say he needs another year to grow. Dave and I think he will do just fine.

Saw a doe with last year's fawn and this years. Only one this year. She should have had two. Seems that is always the case. Rare for us to see twins

Rare for us to see twinsWell, we're all pretty much glad that you weren't twins? That's all I have to say. Oodles of twins over in my little corner of 3A, as usual. One evening over Labor Day weekend there were about 8 or 10 deer out in the hay field next to mine. Does and fawns all, in about the right proportions.

Wish I could add attachments but files are always to damned big! Dutch,I put the pic in my tablet, then go to edit. I crop down the edges to get a smaller pic. The image enlarges as you crop it down.

Went out this morning and saw two inside the ears 8 points. Nice morning to be out. Only thing was I was trimming stands and setting cameras. Plan on hunting tonight on a different property. Anyone see anything on the stand this morning?

Saw nothing. Have the same wide 6 at multiple times but qont get out again til mid week. That is if its cooler not going out with high 70s. Just have no interest in hunting when its warm.
