Today turned out to be a pretty good day to be afield. Going down the mountain into Bedford County, we ran into some of that stuff Ridge described earlier. It was dicey at times. We could have used a few more bodies today. The deer were just circling around and didn't present any shots. Mark saw about a dozen deer and I saw five.

We got skunked today. We had 2 misses and a fair amount of miss fires with the damp air. I had my grandson with me today. We saw near 30 deer but when a shot presented itself both guns misfired. One last chance on Monday then will have to start crop damage killing Ghee......I am just wondering now exactly how good you guys are? I mean....a day has gone by and you have nothing to show for it? Man.......and you call yourselves hunters!!

I’m not good with pictures but I’m not BS’s anyone. Killing that many in flintlock, it should be a blood bath in rifle. A couple years ago, I think it was buzz that posted they put out over TWENTY (20) buck in one day driving in Flintlock. It was then that I knew that Bradford County is different.... wayyyyyy different that Eastern Washington County.

I took a hike sat afternoon to retrieve a stand we put up back in November and never used.It was about a mile walk so I just took my time through the snow to not get sweated up.I figured I'd sit out the last few hours, reflecting on the season when two doe decided to interupt my peace and tranquility. That's actually my new RMC.I had one with a 28" barrel but liked the one I bought for my son better.I sold my old one and picked one up this year with a 24" barrel.I spend more time chasing deer than I do waiting for them so it just fits my style of hunting better.I still shoot the same ole load of 85gr 3f with a 240gr XTP.I bought my son one with the black laminated stock.I think it's sexier. Sure do.They also seemed to have changed the dimension of the stock. With these new ones, you really have to put your cheek, pretty far back on the stock.I didn't like it at first but have gotten used to it.The trigger on his gun is very nice.Mine pretty much sucks.I'll have to work on that in the off season. For a production gun, they're hard to beat.Maybe it's just age but I'm really starting to dig flintlocks.

Well that's ok. But of course the bigger Q is.. Do the chicks in Clearfield Co dig them ?

I bought a RMC 28"/1-28 twist barrel when they first came out. I had a TC Firestorm previously & the RMC was a definite improvement especially with it's L&R lock plus Green Mountain barrel as compared to the TC Firestorm. I agree...for a production gun they are likely one of the best. Also had a Lyman Great Plains & the RMC also put that to shame.

Well the last day is done. We had 3 shots today. One guy hit one that we didn’t think would go far and we tracked it a long ways till It got on land that they don’t want us there so we left it. Coyotes just got a free meal. Fun year

I'm re-doing my T\C Hawken. It's now 40 years old and has seen a lot of hunting. I'll post pics as the project progress's. I don't think I'll have it done until this spring, But it will have some changes from the original T\C look.

May take a little wood removal, but it’s basically a drop in.

Hey Doug...nice looking doe...Congrats!
JJ...Sorry to hear about the lost deer...but you guys had a hell of year! Congrats on your year!
I had a couple of appointments this morning and had to stay around the house. Didn't get out till two in the afternoon. Decided to go to a little woodlot in south Franklin County. Put my millenium tree seat on a medium double oak and enjoyed the afternoon. About 4:10, I noticed 5 does skirting a field just inside the tree line. They were working away from me at about 150 yards. At 4:25, three large does wanted to come out in the field to my left at about 50 yards. I was ready for them but I could feel the wind swirling around. They threw their heads up and skipped back into the woods. I called it a day at 4:40 and as I was unfastening my seat, I noticed 7 long beards feeding across a field on the adjoining farm behind me.
