My brother was fortunate to kill another big doe on a farm in Potter. 385 grain Hornady Great Plains, in the neck.
He was not aiming at the neck tho. ๐
Amazing how easy it is to kill a deer when you hunt a place with a ton of them

My friend Mark came over yesterday to join me in a hunt in Bedford County. I put my down vest on to wear so I'd be more comfortable to drive. I grabbed my coffee and out the door we went.
Driving over the mountain into Bedford County, I glanced in the rear seat of the truck and mumbled an expletive. Mark asked what was wrong. I told him I picked my coat up to get my vest but then I laid my coat back down on the chair. I didn't have my damn coat! The temperature read 25 degrees and by the time we were on the property, it was 23. I told him I'd stick around the truck so I could crawl in it when I got cold while he made a circle around through the property.
Around a quarter after ten, the breeze started up and I was getting a little chilled. I decided to make my way back to the truck and warm up. I got to the truck, knocked the powder out of the pan, folded a patch and placed it in the pan and lowered the frizzen to keep it in place. I laid the rifle on the back seat and climbed in the truck. I no sooner sat down when I looked out the windshield and noticed a large doe walking up a finger ridge about ninety yards in front of me followed by another, and then two more. I figured Mark was coming back to the truck and had pushed the deer ahead of him. The deer stopped behind some pines and then took off at a trot coming back to my right about 65 yards up on the ridge. I had been standing to the right of the truck and those stinking deer passed not twenty yards from where I was standing just minutes before.
Mark appeared about five minutes later and we headed up to Mike's Place in Clearville and had a hearty breakfast for lunch. Temperature had come up to 34 degrees.

Great story Acorn!! Why did you put a patch in the frizzen?? I donโt use a patch , instead I use a small piece of TP. Lay it in the pan and close the frizzen, it will draw any moister and helps protect an accidental discharge.

Yep...CD and Buzz know why I do it. I do everything I can to keep moisture off the pan and away from the touch hole. Last year, I forgot to get rid of my load after the last day and didn't realize the rifle was loaded till I cleaned my rifles in April. Went to a friend's farm to shoot and it went right off.

My brother, who lives alone, left his loaded for two years, and had put a tag on the gun stating that it was loaded.
Went right off

Saw a Iguana yesterday. Currently searching our the correct weapon for use in this area. (excuse for new toy) My recon has told me I am best to hunt them from the boat, so currently in training for water based assault tactics. Also going to Naples boat show tomorrow to explore new boat options. .... possibly with gun turrets mounted ? Wife is pretty excited about all of this...... not in a good way mind you.... but excited all the same.....
