Sorry, not twisting anything. I used your actual quote. Webster's dictionary: selfish, overly concerned with one's own interest. I must say, having special seasons for a small group with no other hunters or competition in the woods falls under that definition. I've had numerous occasions where game was shot near me, and it didn't bother me at all, because they happened in an open season for all hunters. Huh? So I am overly concerned with my own self-interest? Pray tell, how did you come to that conclusion? If you are going to accuse me of such, be prepared to back it up. Otherwise I have to come to the conclusion that you do not know what you are posting about. Could you please show me the post where I accused you personally of being selfish. I have stated that I feel the idea of mentor hunting is selfish. Perhaps you are reading between the lines, or you are twisting words.

You actually posted what you asked me to provide. Here is the quote from your previous post.
The above indicates that you are accusing me personally of being selfish, overly concerned with my own interest. Try to get this stuff straight in your head before criticizing me.

Agree 100% with TKs first post on this issue. Will we ever say, "Enough already, go back to your video game."? Please stay home on Sundays. Do not go out to eat, drink a beer, or do anything on a Sunday. Seriously, the prohibition makes no sense whatsoever. The ONLY thing, other than buying a car, which is mostly banned on a Sunday. AND, the law does not specify that crows may be hunted on a Sunday, but in the 70's, the PGC made it so.... without the approval of the legislature. Except for drinking beer, I use Sundays to do many thing that I cannot stay home for. In my younger days I hunted fox often on Sunday mornings. I am not in favor of hunting on Sunday because I don't want to see deer hunting to have so many weekend days added to the seasons. I do not buy the argument that it will not include deer and I don't believe for a minute that anyone does not think that deer will certainly be included within a few years, even if they are not at the beginning. However, Sunday hunting Has nothing to do with my opposition to this idea. I oppose anymore exceptions as an attempt to attract nonhunters, youth or other, to the game of hunting. IMO we have done plenty, and I am tired of all the coaxing and begging folks who do not have the desire of their own. Enough already. And There are certainly some pro SH folks who see using the "We are only doing it for the youth." as a means of getting the camel's nose under the tent flap. Nothing at all HYPOCRITICAL of my views of this. I am not afraid of anybody shooting "my deer". I don't want Sunday hunting for deer in PA. I have been very consistent in this view. Calling me names and making statements about me that are not true will not change my position. It would be like me saying to those who want to hunt on Sundays, "Buck up, btutercup and learn to be a good enough hunter that you can get them just like so many of us have for years." I don't think that would be accurate, so i wouldn't say it.

Tell me, why do you want hunting, as a recreation, to be unfairly treated?
Are you really afraid it will decimate the deer herd? Is that your main argument?

Plain to see you failed reading comprehension. I used your actual quote when describing mentored hunting. You are not personally referred to as being selfish what so ever. Try to comprehend what is posted, and don't put words in my mouth.

I don't think not allowing Sunday hunting is treating anyone unfairly any more than not allowing hunting during days when it is not hunting season. I view it more as Sundays are not part of the legal hunting season. There are lots of days when it is illegal to hunt.
There is rarely a Sunday during most of the year that I don't get out into the woods at least part of the day. I like things the way they are now. I don't think that is any more selfish or greedy than those who want a change because they think it will be more to their liking.

He's my selfish-self centered take, based on my own situation with a young hunter.I have no desire to see sunday deer hunting approved for anyone at this time, although I'd like the PGC to be able to make the call in the future.Rifle deer season is the only season where my son and I have both Saturdays to hunt without interruption.Saturdays during archery season are split with football season, meaning we only get a morning or an afternoon hunt in.Saturdays during spring gobbler are messed up by little league.Last year we got lucky though and all but one of his games were after 9:00am so we got to hunt.I ask for one thing and one thing only, concerning sunday hunting.I would very much like to see youth small game.Selfish?perhaps but my kid loves to hunt but also play sports. Both of which I feel are important.

I would assume you are worried about additional hunting pressure taking more deer. THen you say you aren't afraid of someone shooting "your deer". If you aren't worried about someone shooting "your deer" then why are you worried about more weekend days?

I am not afraid somebody might shoot MY deer. I do not want hunters to shoot MORE deer. I'll most likely still kill a buck most years as long as I stay healthy enough to hunt. Killing more deer may be what is needed in some parts of the state; it is the last thing needed in many parts of the state.

More deer get killed resulting in less deer for you to hunt. If you still kill a buck then what is the harm? Maybe you have to hunt a little harder? If you don't kill a deer then they wouldn't they have killed "your deer"? You don't think antlerless allocations could be reduced to compensate? Most areas of the state hunters are getting multiple antlerless tags anyway.

Talkback 16 had a lady on who claims you can't go into the woods now without getting shot at. Talk about exaggerating just a little bit. I hunt all the time and never get shot at.

I don't believe there will be any reduction in doe tags to a degree that will make up for the extra weekend days SH would add to the kill.
As far as sports getting in the way, I know very few people who liked hunting as much as I did in high school. I also loved playing football. I had a choice to make-football or hunting. I choose football. During college I didn't get to hunt s much as I wished to, but life is full of choices. My sons run cross country and it limits the time the get to archery hunt. The also go out for track in the spring and it cuts into their trout fishing and going to camp time. On Sundays they usually get into the woods for a while with me or on their own. Not being allowed to hunt does not mean they miss out on enjoying the outdoors.

So you aren't worried about someone else killing "your deer", but just worried they will kill "more deer" which may or may not contain "your deer"? Even though the PGC has cut antlerless allocations and have gone to a split season in most WMU's, you don't think they will be able to figure out how to do that for Sundays?

I do not want a further reduction in the number of deer in the parts of the state I hunt. And there is no doubt that adding days to the season will reduce the number of deer. I do not believe the number of doe tags will be cut. And I certainly don't believe they will be cut anywhere near enough to make up for the increase in the number of tags that will be filled should weekend days be added to the number of days deer can be hunted. Can be stated much simpler than that.
Weather or not I get a deer is not the reason I don't want numbers reduced. I would like to have more deer around even if I no longer hunted.

The deer herd is controlled by the NUMBER OF TAGS AND THE TIME ALLOWED TO USE THEM. In WMU 3A, where I hunt, they reduced tags from 29000 to 19000, and cut the season length. In the past five years, in order to increase the deer herd, the PGC has cut season length in all but 4 units. They have also cut tags in many units. Again, there will be ONE Sunday in deer rifle season, if they even allow that. You really think they can't adjust doe tags to account for that? How do you think they handle it in all these other states?
