Gene if you can't see how archers get preferential treatment on season dates and length than you are not being honest with yourself or others. Archers have had it very good. No doubt. I admit that. Rifle hunters have not had it bad either. Another point is that rifle only hunters are not the great majority that they used to be. Barely 50% of all deer hunters. That used to be 75%. Taking opportunity away from half to appease the other half for no biological reason is a recipe for disaster. I hunt deer in archery, rifle and flintlock and enjoy every one of them.

I think adding opportunity to rifle before adding more to archery is the best path forward. I don't see any reason why we need to reduce opportunities for any group. I am just saying that rifle only guys are not the great majority any longer so the folks in charge of making changes will take that into account that decreasing opportunity for one group to increase it for another is likely to pee off a great percentage of hunters.

Gene, but they don't.
- Archers get 7 weeks prior to riflemen, to pick and choose what buck they want to HOPEFULLY harvest. They can let many "legals" walk given the amount of time.
- Archers get to hunt mature buck in prime rut period. Riflemen do not.
There is a vast disparity between archers and riflemen, regarding the ability to hunt mature buck. Archers can hunt the late Flintlock. I say Flinters should be able to hunt the early archery aw well. We all know that will never happen, due to the friction and backlash it will cause. Only the archers get their way with BOC on wishes and demands. It is what it is. lol

Now is the good days for every Pa hunter.

I'm a bow/rifle/Inline/flintlock hunter. So I participate in all deer seasons. With that said I feel Archers are given too much

If anybody has bene neglected when it comes to antlered deer it is the muzzleloader folks. Many states allow the taking of antlered deer in a muzzleloader season where any ignition is legal. Some have special draws to keep the resource protected. Pa could easily allow antlered deer in the existing early muzzleloader season and award tags via a special draw. 20,000 tags at $20 a pop would raise a lot of revenue and have little affect on the resource. Maybe another 3000 bucks taken at most and it would generate a ton of interest..

But why not have a antlered flint lock season the first few weeks of November, I'll answer my own question , because bow hunters would scream bloody murder

Game managers base season length on the efficiency of the weapon. Meaning how many days hunting per harvest. Archery is considered low impact cause it takes 9 weeks to harvest the same number of bucks that it takes rifle to harvest in 2 weeks in this state. Yes, archery is still low impact.

I feel it should be all muzzleloaders, not just flintlock. I just suggested the one week early season we have in place cause it is already established.

Nope, one week in November during the prime rut for flintlock only along with the archers. I'm tire of sucking hind teat from a bunch of hunters that consider themself the elite. Time they clean up their own in house act. The bow hunters already have their own season 7 weeks long, along with being allowed to carry their bows during the two weeks of rifle and another 3 weeks during the late season, that's 12 weeks total, what they want is all of it. Is that one week to much to ask when they have what they have, not in my mind, tired of it.

Go for it. I will hunt whenever it is.
Realistically. I have said all along that the best chance for all muzzleloader folks to get a whack at antlered deer in their own season is to lobby for a limited draw antlered tag for the existing early muzzleloader season. $20 a pop. Limit it to 20,000 tags to see how it goes and go from there. It would generate revenue, interest and there would be no legitimate concerns for the resource.
People can whine and moan and demand this and that but nothing will change. Organize and make a realistic plan that has a chance to succeed and get the ear of a few in high places that matter.

Sounds good, lets do the same for archery, limited draw to hunt the rut in November. we'll use your numbers, 20,000 tags at $20 a pop.

As I have said before, we are at a point in time that there is no reason to take opportunity away from anybody. Opportunities can be added if those that want them be smart about it. What I have been suggesting for years now already has the roadmaps in place,. Many states do this with a lottery or draw and we already have a existing season to work with. These seasons have become very popular. Sell it as a revenue generator and be smart by wanting to protect the resource by initially going with number of tags that is reasonable.

Some of you guys just want to take opportunity away for the sake of doing it when the added opportunities for everybody have not negatively impacted anybody's success.

I dunno if this data was posted previously.....but just wondering the "success rate" of today's rifle hunter (Antlered only) when compared to "days of old" before those nasty crossbows were legal.

When nearly half of the antlered deer harvest is already dead before rifle season , kind of sounds like opportunity has already been taken away from some.
