Well, as long as it's ok in other states and there is no data to be sited against such a device, It should be lobbied for in PA. You see, we must look to others for direction. We should bow to those who will champion our cause, and shower them with praise for finding ways for us to be allow to use the most effective-NOT EASIEST-way to kill the critters we seek. Actually we were one of the 1st states to have a MY program and were also one of the early one's to have statewide crossbow inclusion. Other states looked at our data and realized that the sky didn't fall.

But for goodness sake the entire evolution and development of the human species has been based on having the intelligence that allows us to look, assess, learn, implement and improve. If it works, it works. If it is bad don't use it.

Holy cow, you guys are always the first to cry about other states having something we don't and want to be just like them, especially if you think it will make things easier. And of that there is no doubt- Pages and pages of threads that could be compiled into the data you're always looking for would show it.

Yep, I use a compound bow. Work to make only recurves or long bows legal and I'll keep archery hunting without complaint.

And of that there is no doubt- Pages and pages of threads that could be compiled into the data you're always looking for would show it. Show me where I or anyone else advocates for "being just like other states" in every respect. You're making that up! The only crying is coming from you and they sure are crocodile tears. You're like a kid who can't say "what's wrong" because you have nothing to point to. So you attack those asking for data or clarification. We can learn from others but we do not have to copy others or do everything they do or accept their policies without investigating them. Again; the entire evolution and development of the human species has been based on having the intelligence that allows us to look, assess, learn, implement and improve.

All hat and no cattle. All opinions and no facts. Just slop thrown from the ditch hoping some of it sticks. When one has nothing but slop as their foundation, it becomes difficult for that foundation to stand strong. It crumbles pretty quick which is well evident in this discussion.

Yep, I use a compound bow.. Along with all of the other gadgets, techniques, and opportunities you utilize to make it easier for you to kill a deer. What other gadgets and techniques? The opinions are slop because some don't agree? Think about the comparison between affirmative action and allowing crossbows for those who would not archery hunt until they were allowed. It is spot on. Some were too ________(fill in the blank) to take up archery hunting, even though they had the same chance to do it as everyone else. So, bring on the xbows so that they can play archer too. It brings people who wouldn't archery hunt into the season. Other hunting methods were allowed. How many would still take part if compounds and xbows were not allowed? Many, probably most, would stay home and whine about how unfair it is that so much was expected of them. The offense some take because others think that xbows should not be included may just show that they too know they do not belong. confused-smiley-013

The opinions are slop because some don't agree? Nope. As I said before. It is not opinions or positions that are the problem. It is how one states their opinions and positions. All you have been able to produce when discussing your point of view has been slights and attacks. Slop is all you got so you throw it hoping some of it sticks. A good example of the slop. Substitute your compound bow in there for crossbow. You are such a hypocrite! Too funny you blast others then have done the same thing and benefited from the same "affirmative action".

What other gadgets and techniques? Don't know how you hunt so I will ask. Do you hunt out of nice comfy treestands to make the draw less noticeable to deer so they are easier to kill? Do you use a release aid for a more consistent release and ability to hold at full draw longer to make it easier to kill? Do you use a laser rangefinder as a shortcut for learning how to judge distance to make it easier to kill? Do you shoot let off so you can hold at full draw for longer periods of time to make it easier to kill? Do you shoot pins as a shortcut for instinctive shooting so you do not have to learn the trajectory of your arrow? Do you use trail cameras to do the work for you so you can spend less time scouting and learning what deer are there and where they are at so they are easier to kill? Do you use scent controlling sprays or washes to give you an edge to make it easier to kill? I could go on and on but you get the drift.

You call names and cry when somebody disagrees with your opinion and my opinions are "slop" because of how I state them? coffeespit
And somebody even claims I said that I considered camo, tree stands, etc. cheating, which is a lie. And ridge, It would be hypocritical if I used a crossbow and said that I think they have no place in archery season. BTW, since you are one of the movers and shakers who claim to work so hard to "expand opportunities", Why was the whining so loud for scopes to be allowed on crossbows when at first they were not going to be allowed? Not that they could be considered another crutch to make their use even easier. confused-smiley-013

You call names and cry when somebody disagrees with your opinion and my opinions are "slop" because of how I state them? Actually, as I have said many times. It is how one chooses to state their opinions and positions. I have had many great conversation with UBP members and officers who are very against crossbow inclusion. We had civil adult conversations and I have become friends with some of them. The only way you have shown to able to discuss your opinions on crossbows is by slights and attacks. Who said that? I said that using some of these gadgets and techniques makes it easier to kill. A big part of your opposition is crossbow supporters just want to make it easier to kill something. Apparently you do to, based on how you hunt and what you hunt with, lol. Did you follow the details of that discussion when it occurred? There were several reasons. With crossbow inclusion came the elimination of the handicapped crossbow permit. If magnified optics were not allowed, those with handicapped permits would not be able to use their crossbows as they previously had. That was the main drive behind it. I spoke with several commissioners at the time about it and testified in front of the BOC at the time. I believe every commissioner except 1 or 2 saw this as a major oversight and wanted to correct it by allowing magnified optics. I originally did not have a big issue with the discussion to not allow magnified optics. Caught some flack from some pro crossbow folks about it as well. I soon realized the oversight and worked to get magnified optics approved.

Nearly all my bucks have been killed with a bow. Of those, a couple were killed while still hunting, a few from quickly fashioned brush blinds, a couple while standing on the limb of an ash tree in a fence row on a game land, and more from a ladder stand and an old TSS climber. The hoyt seems to have a pretty high let-off, not sure how much, but It's higher than the whitetail II I was using before it. I started to use a trigger a few years ago-that is hypocritical move on my part. I use the arthritis in my hands and the fact that my "new" bow(think it's a 2000 or 2001) it so short that it's difficult to use the tab I always used before.-some guys may have used the arthritis and my bad shoulder as an excuse to go to a crossbow, but even my great hypocrisy goes only so far confused-smiley-013 I have never owned a range finder and have only looked through one once. I have a couple trail cams. I rarely use them and it is because it feels like cheating to me. I will put them out sometime after Christmas to see what's left and to give me one more reason to get out and snoop around in the woods since I probably won't trap much and have no deer tags left to fill. All of the above means absolutely nothing as it has nothing to do with crossbows being used by physically healthy hunters archers using a crossbow. I hate crossbows in archer season. Some like them and have every right to use them. That is all there is to it. Now, tell me again about how I have no right to say I hate the weapon. Affirmative action and trying to silence an opinion you don't agree with confused-smiley-013 , you gotta be a liberal .

All of the above means absolutely nothing as it has nothing to do with crossbows being used by physically healthy hunters archers using a crossbow. It certainly does when you claim to despise the easy button but embrace gadgets and techniques to make it easier for you, as a healthy hunter, to kill. I will tell you again for the fourth time that you have every right to oppose crossbows. I have had many great conversations with people that oppose crossbows and consider many my friends. People base their view of your opinions on how your present and defend them. In your case, you present and defend them with slop, slights, and innuendo. Because of that, some have little respect for them.

While you have repeatedly mentioned hunters using camo, tree stands etc. as negative ways that imply cheating or not being skilled, you have yet to address that the evolution of hunting is based in those skills and many others that you deem to represent a lesser person.
ridge, bb posted the above in response to a post of mine. I never said any of it once, let alone repeatedly.
And on scent eliminator and the like, Wind direction is the biggest factor in my choice of stand or the direction I still hunt. I am of the OPINION that cover scents etc are the most overrated products sold to deer and predator hunters.

I can also take up to 2 MY kids at the same time. Pretty nice since I can take all 3 kids out there squirrel hunting if I want. Starts around Sept 1 out there too. stirthepot Sorry Dutch but I just like to get you going about the early squirrel season.
