Sounds like you are putting a ton of pressure on them in flintlock but still manage to put out dozens on a drive so the deer are not all headed to refuge. I guess I am asking if you hunt as much during the week in rifle season which would be much more productive. . . We hunt every day of rifle. We normally kill around 35 to 40 antlerless deer Sounds good. Yeah, way too many deer there.

saw A lot of deer again today. One shot by one of our guys but missed. Try again tomorrow when do you have time to farm ? Did you train your wife to be a farmer, just for these occasions ?

These statements that you guys are making on numbers of deer being harvested on what is really not all that much land, is REALLY hitting home as to how bad things have gotten in my neck of the woods. 800 acres is just a tad over 1 sq mile (640 acres). If you guys are harvesting 30+ from about 1 sq mile, just how the hell many do you actually have living on 1 sq mile ? Holy Shat !

Today was the least productive day we’ve had all year. We did 4 of our best drives and only saw 2 deer all day Damn game Commission and their HR program ruined our hunting 😜

I wont go into specifics, but today we drove all day roughly 7 miles of a south facing ridge in this wind a piece of state forest. 5 drives in total. About the maximum number of participants allowed. We harvested 4, hit a buck which went into posters and near houses which is another story, and missed a coyote and a bunch of other deer. This is central pa oak and hickory forest. This area has dmap to help reduce the herd, and this group has removed 50+ deer for 5 years in a row from this area and we saw a pile of deer. Way over populated for the terrain. Access is very difficult which helps, need to hoof it, only way. Which probably helps keep these numbers even with the x amount of dmap tags for the area. Alot of doe and some buck, some nice ones too. So in reference to the current discussion and how some people feel public ground is over hunted and under populated, I say find somewhere new or try different things.
Just a response

Well so much for my raccoon hat. Sat at emergency room till 3:00 am. The mrs. Having some complications from gall bladder surgery. Shes okay, but I'm playing nursemaid today and soon to be out plowing snow. Hate when I can't hunt! Duty calls though! Goodluck to all that went out.

Well, my morning consisted of falling into a stream in the dark when I slipped on a flat rock as I tried to hop scotch across the rocks. Water went down into my boot and all over my flintlock. Bent my shooting sticks. Climbed out, dried off the best I could. Pushed my powder and ball out. Cleaned barrel and reloaded. straightened out my sticks the best I could.
Got to where I wanted to be 1/2 hour late. Got settled in and 10 minutes later a nice fat doe walked out and posed for me at about 60 yards. Proceeded to miss her clean.
What a morning. Back home now. Drying out and plan to archery hunt tonight close to home.

I figure you owe her pretty good after your fall about a year ago when she had to take care of you.
