Archers enjoy taking over everything, then bullying people to keep what they got

Not really the case, although I probably made it sound that way? There was much more to it.
We had the chance to host several annual archery events, all of which meant funds coming in and all of which are still going on. Even bigger things came to pass that benefited the entire operation. All the result of a group of people with foresight and the gumption to make it happen.
As a group, the archery contingent does most of the upkeep on the club, not just their own venues, still that way today. Despite rumors to the contrary, we've spent more money upgrading shooting facilities, our co-op trout operation and many other things, than on the archery venues. All moved forward, both with funds and help provided by the same people who volunteer for their own archery projects.
Some realize that's always been the case, others prefer to start rumors and spread gossip. I don't tolerate either.
We've had a four house trap set up since the mid 90s. That happened because the trap shooters wanted it and we needed a place to park hundreds of vehicles for proposed archery events. The archery leadership provided the work force and the equipment to make it happen. To this day, some of the trappies still resent them, despite getting their new trap venue out of the deal.
One of the reasons we have good deer hunting, is because of timbering in the past, habitat projects and other bits of joy. I used to go up on SGL 170 in flintlock seasons. Haven't done that in a dozen years or more. have a better chance of seeing deer on the club's 154 acres, than up on the mountain.

That sounded like an invite to me, fleroo. Best hop on it. I don't think he's ever been east of the Mon. Lol I'll have yinz know. I took my, at the time, lovely bride on a honeymoon. 32 years ago. Went to the Grand Canyon we did. GRAND CANYON, PA. Well, we were wed on Oct 10, so's I reckon we arrived in Tioger County someswhere around Oct 12 ? Anyhow, there was something strange going on in Tioger County at that time. Masses of people converged on that county, the "Canyon" in particular, to look at f'ing LEAVES. Ya, that's right, A G'DAMNED LEAF. The same sh!t that is on every g'damned tree in America. THERE WERE NO ROOMS AVAILABLE ANYWHERE CLOSE. All the same story.... "Don'tcha know it's FALL LEAF SEASON, PAL ?". Well NO, I didn't know it was "Fall Leaf Season, Pal". There was ONE place within reason that was dubbed a Motel ? We walked in with our luggage, opened the door to the so-called room, and promptly walked out. That's when we both started questioning the life-long arrangement we got ourselves into.... which by the way, lasted a balmy 4.5 years. We ended up in a B&B someswhere within an hours drive of all those pretty g'damned leaves in that canyon. It was that trip, that awakened me to the fact that EVERYTHING EAST OF THE MON SUCKS !

I will be out in Wood Co. TX. this weekend. All the deer I have been seeing are under 13", " Antler restrictions " It has helped with the deer size and antler size. Only able to shoot doe during archery season and 5 days over Thanksgiving where I hunt. Texas still has a lot of poachers, but a lot better than 5 yrs ago. Good luck to all.

I find it hard to believe that a marriage would only last for 4.5 years after showering her with that much affection.A trip to the Pa grand canyon is what every girl dreams of.

Coulda been worse, coulda had to sleep in the car - or drive to a metropolitan area like Mansfield?
By my criteria, anyplace that has more than four fast food chains in town, has become too civilized for me. So far Wellsboro only has a McD's and a Pizza Hut, or did the last time I went thru it?
Leaf peeper infestations up there have tapered off quite a bit lately, since them golden days of yore. Fine with me. Probably safe to come back via Rt. 6 now, in mid October?
My first wife and I went to Williamsburg, VA for our belated honeymoon in October. Turned out our assumption that crowds would be light because school had started, were off the mark. Place was crawling with families and kids. Fortunately I'd made a reservation thru AAA at the time and we were okay.
Except for the desk clerk telling me they were booked and had no rooms, when I walked in the place.
I think she was put off by my pickup truck, cut off jeans and long hair, but they don't mess with AAA reservations, even when hippies show up to use them.

I can get there in 45 Min. I could have saved 5 hours worth of driving, and a whole bunch of aggravation upon arrival. Reckon that little tryst was a harbinger of things to come for the next 4.5 years. Leaf Peepers, WTF ! Why I never....

Yes......The 4 grandkids just left. I love it when they come......and love it when they go!! I need today to recover from the always high decibel level of noise that starts at 6:00am with the baby screaming (like a fire whistle). Not her fault.....she's just communication she wants her am bottle!! Ends about 8:00pm with "arm wrestling" over who brushes their teeth first. I'm looking forward to woods noise tomorrow!!

I'm looking forward to tomorrow and less or no rain. But I'm having tremendous luck today finding the buggers high and low just by sneaking around looking everywhere. Great fun! You just don't know where you're going to find them hiding. Oh I'm not hunting deer. I'm playing hide'n'seek right now with my three year old grandkids.
