I think that even in my lifetime we will see evs as popular as fossil fuel ones in much of the country. I remember a couple old guys telling me that front wheel drive vehicles were a horrible idea and would never catch on. That was probably around 1980.

This seemed so obvious as to where EV's were heading. There are huge logistical issues with going 100% EV and they are not nearly as green as they are made out to be. Hybrids are a much more practical option for most people and hopefully we get better options with that going forward.

I was talking to a woman in her early seventies that drove a Honda Civic hybrid. It had almost 250K miles on it and she loved the car. This woman drives like a spoiled teenager and cusses like a sailor. I haven't seen her drive past for a few months, so I hope she made it through the winter-or maybe the civic finally went to the junk yard.

I wonder how much better EV's are going to be for the environment? I've read where mining for cobalt and lithium are very bad for the environment. Not to mention the human rights violations that may be going on. Plus you need fossil fuels to mine for these elements and to charge all of these vehicles. How many fossil fuels are burned to charge a vehicle for a lifetime?
Once the vehicle is finished what do you do with all of the batteries? Can they be recycled?
I'm all for making them and if somebody wants to buy one then buy it. I agree with bake545 Hybrids are probably the better option.

I watched a segment the other week on 60 Minutes about China. They now have a battery in the works that will go 600 miles. They can also change out a battery in 2.5 MINUTES! The idea is that you won't charge your battery, you just go have a charged battery installed, if you want?

It might only take 2.5 minutes but how long to you have to wait to get the 2.5 minute process started?

I have a customer who owns a gaswell on his property and coverted his cars, mororcycle and lawn tractor to run on Nat gas.He claims there's slightly less power but they run cooler and the oil lasts forever. You'd think they'd go that route if they really cared.

Hers the thing, man constantly innovates, so what exists today, is not what will exist in the future. The model T was not the end of innovation in the car industry. Many turn the EV thing into a political issue, it's not. The market will shake out what works and what doesn't. That's the beauty of capitalism.

I agree, Not sure why there isn't a bigger push for natural gas. It seems like it would be cheaper, easier and cleaner than electric. Not to mention we have the resources right here in our own country.

I understand the evolution of things. right now very few people want them so get it right and people will buy them. The beauty of capitalism is driven by private money not taxpayer money.

I looked into converting my vans to NG when I was in business. They did require a fairly expensive filling station, not saying it wasn't doable.

Last week I was heading to Western PA, and passed at NG filling station that had been removed. Many of those were used by those in the gas industry. It was near Somerset, I think. Like I said, capitalism will sort it out. Hydrogen is an even better fuel, and I've heard about that since the early 80s.

The market will drive the production.
IMHO right now I think the hybrids are the hands down best choice.

Everyone has electric going to their house. Just a thought. But you need a 240 line to charge these things ans since your stove and dryer are currently occupying those you'll need an electrician out

My niece charges in the garage with 110 overnight. Not saying it's the best

We bought a Toyota Rav4 Hybrid a few years back and took it on vacation to the Smoky Mountains. We were going to meet my youngest son in Emerald Isle, North Carolina but we were going to visit Ashville, NC first. We went up and over the mountains and started down the East slope toward Ashville and the car was charging the battery all the way down to Ashville. We drove around Ashville and left the next day for Emerald Isle. Well, Ashville is on a plateau and you have an Eastbound slope for nearly have the state of North Carolina. I kept passing Sheetz stores while looking down at the gas gauge and it never seemed to move. We drove to I-95 before filling up with gas. Unbelievable! We love this car. If we ever need a new car I hope it's hydrogen/electric hybrid.

I have the range, but a gas dryer. My son just took his dryer hookup (he has gas as well) and since it was located right beside the garage, he flipped it....installed the hookup and that was it.

Plan to eat breakfast at Sheetz everyday while your car charges for an hour?
