My cousin's have always hunted long range. 5-600 yds. Maybe that should be illegal? The vast majority of the long range hunters are not the problem. They have the equipment to make those 600 or more shots along with the know how. The problem is the average hunter does not. A lot of the average Joe’s can’t even estimate 50, 100 yards correctly, let alone 200, most have never even fired their their rifles at a target past 100. Include bow hunters in this , shooting at and practicing at a lot less yardage, it becomes a problem. And no, it shouldn’t be illegal.

Just watched Melissa Bachman shoot an antelope with her Mathews compound. 70 yards in a stiff breeze. The goat was head on. She shot and the goat turned and was getting out of dodge before the arrow got there. The arrow hit behind the shoulder as the goat was turning. Them far shots are just a crossbow thing, lol.............. Sounds like a good example of why long range shots with arrows is a bad idea. They shouldn't be encouraged and the marketing behind a 500 fps crossbows actually claims that it's a long range weapon.

Looks like Unified Bowhunters of Pa is now actively pursuing crossbow users to join their organization. Not sure how "Unified" the org is going to be moving forward?

After all the hate I had to deal with from UBP due to my crossbow stance, no thanks.

Yes. My mistake. They don't seem to be too united about that post by Harold.

After all the hate I had to deal with from UBP due to my crossbow stance, no thanks. Do you remember many years ago on HPA you and I going back and forth with PMs on harvest data in the SRAs when crossbow inclusion was on the radar statewide in Pa? We both were worried about over harvest and didn't support crossbow inclusion at the time.

THERE WAS A TIME WHEN IT COULD HAVE BEEN AN ISSUE.I no longer care about any organization or what they lobby for.Hunting is dying a much faster death than I originally thought it would and nothing will change that.No additional weapons or seasons will impact me or where I hunt.I'll continue to hunt the way I want and pretty much ignore everything else. It's undeniable that crossbows have shifted the impact on the harvest. That would have been an issue 20 years ago but it's not significant today.Everything about hunting has changed and I don't believe it's for the better. No letters or emails will change that either.
