It's a seasonal bar, does well in hunting seasons...........survives the rest of the year.

Dunno Buzz, we've pulled in there several times in summer and not been able to get a seat in the dining room. One time it was so crowded we even left and went to Montoursville for lunch. If they are saying "highly profitable" and showing that on tax filings, I'd say it is true.

I would think there are fairly few places to go out to eat up there, and maybe it is a little gold mine in the area.

It is defiantly good food. I have seen it empty more than full, but do not go there a lot. Hopefully some one will buy it and keep it going.

...... and I defy you to find better. You just don't understand! It is defiantly good considering the norm of the area. Yes also there are very few places to get a decent meal within 30+ miles of there. Dollies in Montoursville is really good. The Forksville general store has great food but you need a reservation 3 months in advance for a Saturday night meal and show, but definitely worth it. But the Forksville Inn has become a dump.

Forksville inn has the coolest beer cooler around. Old wooden doors with big ol' stainless latch handles.......got to see it to appreciate it. Keeps beer cold as well !
Wife and I, and some friends, went and saw that show at the general store on a Saturday night a few winters ago. Was a neat set up , food was good, and show was pretty good.

I dunno Bowbum, they are very highly rated, when I looked them up, the Forksville Inn anyway. I haven't stopped there in some time. But the last time I was there the men's room was nasty and the place in general was filthy. Had chicken and biscuits on a Sunday that was really pathetic. Don't know who is rating them but I'm hearing the same accounts recently from friends in Forksville.

Yup! the coolest cooler I've seen. I had a room in Forksville for nearly 10 years while I traveled with work and before I bought land here. I spent a lot of time there at the F I.

Been a Hillsgrove Twp property owner/taxpayer for over 40 years now and with Dad...make that 60 years. So I just happen to have a tad bit of insight to the local eating establishments. Ate at all of them likely hundreds of times. High Knob Inn has great ole fashioned hand padded cheeseburgers, very good pizza, corn bites and yummy chicken wings! Forksville Inn has a (all you can eat)fried cod fish fry normally on Fri nites with fries & slaw. Outstanding...and yes I know fish!! Also regularly has angus steak dinner specials. Their pot pie & fried chicken dinners are also pretty good. As far as cleanliness...I NEVER experienced anything being substandard at either establishment. Bowbum...mebbie you just hit a rare occurrence as I never experienced anything below par. If your looking for higher end/topshelf cuisine....I suggest you avoid Hillsgrove/Forksville and drive on down to Harrisburg.

If your looking for higher end/topshelf cuisine....I suggest you avoid Hillsgrove/Forksville and drive on down to Harrisburg. Not nice Loggy, not nice. I went to the Forksville Inn for the first time in 1956. AT that time it was a gravel parking lot right out to the road. We left the cabin at Maple lake and went there for ice cream for the kids and "a six pack" for mom and dad. I also have been in there many, many times and for a little bit of clarity, I married a waitress who worked there and divorced her in 1986. That was back when Richard and Katrina owned it. I knew Richard when his dad owned it and he was a little kid. This "I kissed more girls than you" stuff is pure childishness. My primary comment was about cleanliness and secondly I only mentioned one meal that I was disappointed in. When I was there last spring, (Ellie was our waitress), the chicken and biscuits were terrible and at 1 p.m. on a Sunday afternoon we were one of only two tables occupied. Regardless, the men's room was a disgusting, nasty place. Once before we stopped there with my BIL and his wife and there were cigarette butts literally covering the parking area in front of the entry and trash all around. We took a vote and decided that was an indicator of how the place is kept. As for higher end cuisine, I never once mentioned looking for that. Pay attention old boy. I mentioned liking the High Knob Inn and I'll put the food at Colley Pub up against anyone's anywhere. How many times, Ye Old Sullivan County Relic that you are, have you eaten at Colley? Think about it; I've spent more time in Sullivan County in the last three years than you have in the last 60. Maybe on that drive from the flatlands some of that diesel fumes on the highway gets in your nostrils. A little fisherman philosophy for you Ye Old Sullivan County fixture that you are; A fisherman once told me, (actually he told everyone who was watching the show), that anyone who fries fish..... has never eaten fish.

Hoping to eat there, once Moosemike and his wife buy it! The black diamond steak is supposedly pretty good. Although on their facebook there were a few serious complaints. Hope Moosemike doesn't do like most new buyers of eating establishments in this area do ....they cut the portions, use cheaper ingredients and raise the prices. I highly recommend the Forksville General store for a Saturday night out. Great food, (although you have no menu, you gotta eat what is served that day, generally lasagna, pork or chicken), and entertainment right off the circuit from Atlantic City. Big Mike, (Sax Daddy) puts on one hell of a show and his daughter Shelly is a wonderful vocalist. The place, to my surprise, was even written up in travel guides and dining reviews in California. It ain't Loggy's Harrisburg but it sure is one hell of a treat for a postcard village in Sullivan County. Oh yeah, they are closed until spring.

Well Bowbum...I won't respond in like manner in that I'm just a "childish, diesel fume intoxicated flatliner old Sullivan County Fixture"!! Just can't refrain from degrading posters on a personal level can you??? My most sincere apology Loggy. I thought I put enough emphasis on the lighter side that even a stoic old Sullivan County fixture like you would recognize a good natured jab. I didn't really take the "don't tell me, cause I been here longer than red shale" approach too seriously but it opened the door to sneak a fish flavored jab at ya. Maybe the smell got ya. Sorry old Salt.
