So Stroupy tells me his daughter is competing in a state Archery competition near me. So, I went to see her shoot, and of course had to spend time with that danged plumber kid. LOL
Anyway, it was held at the Spooky Nook Sports Complex here in Lancaster County. The place is an old distribution center. It's huge! The place where they were shooting is about 200 yds wide, and there were kids shooting side by side, the whole 200 yds. I mean, a kid every 3-4 feet.
I have no idea how many shooters were going to be shooting today, but it was easily over 1000, maybe 2000!
This is the statewide Archery in the Schools program administered by the PGC.
Lily's school has 100 shooters in their program, which blew me away. It's not a huge school district.
So, it was gratifying to see such interest.
BTW, she did pretty darned good, IMO. Way to go Lily!

Speaking of that plumber kid.I'm gonna buy him a pair of suspenders so when he bends over, his ass crack doesn't stick out.

Just a program that really is gaining legs with participation. The archery shoots at the school are filled with people all day with 4 schools participating. I really believe that it may be the most popular program in the schools right now. No politics either if you shoot good you move on no coaches kids no favoritism just plain individual scores. My daughter came to me one day and said she wanted to try Archery and after dealing with the politics when I was in school I said I will never push my kids into anything. I won't stop them either. If I had to pick archery would be it though. She was shooting 170 out of 300 last year and her first shoot this year was a low 200 score. Then out of the blue the button got pushed and she was shooting 240's and now 250's consistently. If she brings her score up another 30 points she will be with the best of the best. They gave a lot of awards and money out in the end. Just a really good program and hat's off to the PGC for running it. Hat's off for the coaches that put a lot of time in as well. They really care about the kids.

You should see some people's solder jobs. I fixed my own uncles outside faucet one time. I went to fix it and I think a whole roll of solder was on the ground. I said did you get the water out of the pipe before you tried soldering? He said no I didn't know you needed to do that... lol That's why they invented pex and shark bites. So easy a dumb gorilla can do it.

If you have acidic water the brass pex fittings are the worst to put in your home.

In that case maybe I should just stick with plastic or copper on a small job I need to do at my son’s place this year, mostly cpvc pipe anyways. I think it’s acidic water, need to take a ph. thanks for the info.

Last year I was thinking about talking to our school district about the archery in the schools program. Still thinking about it as I want to make sure I have to time to actually do what needs to be done.

Soldering is easy if you get the water out, clean the copper, use flux and don't think you have to use much solder. That said, shark bites and pex have none of those problems and make very quick, effective repairs that anyone can do.
I have replaced some of our plumbing with Pex and will likely do the entire house with it. Running from a manifold where the water comes in all the way to the upstairs bath with only a couple fittings is the way to go IMO. Sure beats spraying water on the old wood so that the house doesn't catch fire while soldering in tight spaces like with copper.
What are some of the drawbacks with Pex Stroupy?

Pex us fine makes my job easy and when that happens I still make money. They took the lead out of brass so the brass no longer holds up like it used too. The same for brass on your well fittings. I installed a brass tee 3 years ago and the guys water is that acidic I replaced his tank 2 weeks ago when I was breaking down the brass for my collection his brass tee just crumbled and it was in 3 years tops. As for the pex fittings 1/2" really isn't 1/2" it's really 3/8" because the I'd of the pex fittings really choke the diameter down. I did Brad's whole house for him and he should be absolutely fine especially since he's on municipal water that gets treated. People with wells better think twice. Getting your water tested would be a good idea. I also don't like the thoughts of my water sitting in plastic pipes either. If I had a well I like the taste of well water since I grew up with one. Copper actually has antibacterial qualities in it not sure if that helps though.
