Yes, I agree, half inch isn't half when the joints are less, but, like Stroupy said, it's working well for me.
My house was built in the late 40s. I think I had every type of pipe that ever existed, in my water system. I wasn't comfortable with, the age, and condition of some of those pipes. A flooded basement was always in the back of my mind.
Totally happy with having PEX and having new pipes that will last as long as I'm here.
Did this thread get off course, or what? 😂

Oh, and another plumbing fear I had was a cast iron sewer pipe that ran the length of my basement that dripped at each joint. There was also a jumbled mess with various fixes of the sewer piping over the years.
Stroupy came down one day and replaced all that for me. Of course we had NUMEROUS trips to the store I work at getting the many fittings he needed. The wonderful cashiers were laughing everytime they saw us walk in. It was a great time tho.
When it came time for me to do some returns, I had multiple receipts and multiple different kinds of fittings. Mind blowing, but Carin figured it all out, because I told her to do it when she wasn't busy. She still mentions that day to me and we laugh.
All in all, Stroupy may be one of the more opinionated people I know, but he has one heck of a good heart and a good plumber

Do you think stainless fittings are worth the expense in some situations?

Was that from a well in coal country, Stroup? I don't think I've seen one that bad.

You should see some people's solder jobs. I fixed my own uncles outside faucet one time. I went to fix it and I think a whole roll of solder was on the ground. I said did you get the water out of the pipe before you tried soldering? He said no I didn't know you needed to do that... lol That's why they invented pex and shark bites. So easy a dumb gorilla can do it. Just to carry on the two topic conversation here.......I can solder....if I must. I'm not a big fan of the shark bite gizmos as I simply fear they will let loose ten years down the road. But I give all the kudos in the world to plumbers, carpenters, and craftsmen. You guys can do some great work in a short period of time!!

Do you think stainless fittings are worth the expense in some situations? Absolutely, I won't put brass in anymore for wells. Even my one supplier is thinking about eliminating brass all together. Only thing that stinks I scrap a lot of brass and copper. Brass is heavy and doesn't take much to collect a lot if weight. I'm sitting on about 5- 5 gallon buckets filled with it. If you put it in a bigger container you would blow your back out. 😅

Sharkbites will hold up if you deburr the pipe because if you knick the oring it will leak eventually or right away. Then you have the brass part of it.... I don't brag about a lot of things but I will with my soldering. I can solder.

Back to the original topic. The head coach for our school his son is a senior and done unless they decide to go out to Louisville for Nationals. I thought maybe he would be stepping down since his kids are both out now. I saw him post a comment that he's defintely still coaching. He's a good egg he said he loves archery and the kids too much to get away from it. I'm glad I am hoping once I get my customer base built up and a system down for my paperwork and how to make it easier for me because I hate doing it I plan to help out more with the program.

That's a pic of a pressure tank for a rednecks well system. Looks like maybe a Well-X-Trol / Same that I have.

2" is 2.047 and 4" is 3.998 but it also depends on what pipe and wall thickness. 😉

Pex and shark bites are fine as long as where you use it is easy to get to

Being a plumber, a 2" X 4" is Robin to your Batman pipes! There aren't many interior pipes that aren't hanging around with a 2"x something.
