A wonderful day for a Flinter today. And let me guess Ridge, you're back to work. LOL Yep. I did take Friday9tomorrow) off to give it another go and it actually looks like it won't be raining all day. Cold, which I like. I have to run my daughter to Erie to move her back into college Saturday during the snowstorm. We haven't had snow all year and the obe day I have to drive 100 miles, here it comes.

The good news for Saturday, the snow is is coming up from Southeast, and "appears" to be tracking much lower than the Northern PA counties. Depending on when yu leave, you may be able to stay ahead of it.

Get a hotel. The creeks are full of Steelhead. Send the wife and daughter to the mall with a wad of cash. In other words.... make lemonade!

Good day today. A chilly 14 degrees this morning. Hunted from daylight till 4. Packed a lunch with me. Saw 12 does, two small bucks. Had a swing and a miss on a doe at 11am.

Well, if the forecast holds up it will be three miserable Saturdays in SW Pa for flintlock this year. The first two were drizzle and wet snow and this coming Saturday they are calling for rain. Gee. wonder if we will ever get Sunday hunting.................

Be nice if the upcoming Sunday would be tacked on for final Flintlock weekend with season ending next Monday(MLK Holiday).

Maybe just maybe some snow for the last weekend? Looks like rain here Friday then changing to snow overnight, but windy. For those that have off MLK day, it looks to be the best day of the season. Cold and some snow cover. No MLK day off for us....

Latest I saw for Saturday, Western PA. 38 degrees for high. Strong wind at 25 MPH, and virtually no precipitation.. like 10% chance at times. You say you like wind. Sounds like THE perfect day for you. Not me. I prefer low 70's.

Not sure I've seen a Flinter season that was as bad as this one for that type of hunting, weather-wise.

Yeah....not the best weatherwise. Looking at last weekend Flintlock longrange forecast for Sullivan County. Looks like temps dipping to near single digits by Last Day Monday. Only thing missing for those perfect hunt weather conditions are those high winds...darn!! lol

Best of luck Mike!! I'll be heading up to camp Sunday and plan all day Monday in the woods to close out the season. Been a tradition last number of years. This season only managed a few still hunts locally thru Mom's woods in York County. Hearing dogs barking, traffic & other civilization noise pollution just no comparison to the serenity that those Big Mountain's offer......deer or no deer.

Watch those ridgetops in Sully. Might be a tad windy up there this weekend. Shaping up to be a great day for sneak hunting.

High winds scare the hell out of me while I'm in the woods. No matter what I'm doing in the woods. I look up in the air more than I'm looking straight around.
I had a branch of a tree release from a snag, about 25 years ago. The branch was probably 8" diameter and a good 15' long. It landed no more than 3' away from me. GONER ! if it connects.
I remember a story in Game News some years ago, where a record class Bull Elk was killed in PA when a tree fell across him.
