Hey Peafloo. Surprise surprise. No response from any of the commissioners when I sent them correspondence regarding my input for 2022/23 seasons and regulations. Rec'd reply re my input to 2022/23 Seasons. Took 4 days. Did you get the generic automated response that everyone gets or a personal response from a commissioner?

Welp.....looks like we may get upwards of a 10" snowfall between Sunday evening and Monday AM. I'm not counting on it, but if it's that much, the last day of flintlock won't happen either.
I can't get my cart around with that much snow. Even if I install my "chain spike" tire chains. The deep snow will cause the floor of the cart to plow up snow and I'll just stick right there.
Of course, I could always just open the entrance gate and drive the F-150 in there in 4WD with the post-traction rear lock engaged.
Hmmmmmm,,,,,,,.........

So....last evening at 5:30 this guy appears on my trail cam. (Note....I never changed the time when we went to daylight savings) Which of course prompted me to get out there early this am. To which I saw ten doe in two different groups. And never saw this guy....who was likely bedded down in the really thick stuff not far from the doe!! He will be there next year. BTW....much to cold to be out trying to stealth around in my cart. It was CRUNCH.....CRUNCH.....CRUNCH the entire time. Just enough noise to alert any deer within 100 yards.

Spent 6 hours today with the flintlock. Saw three does for my efforts. They had to be piled up somewhere cause they weren't were I was at.

Spent yesterday morning(took loooonnng lunch break ) & late afternoon still hunting mom's woodlot property. Saw 4 doe but they were on the move in a thicket offering no clear shot. Her house outdoor thermometer showed 5 degrees when I arrived. Footing was noisy. Even moving slow....still froze my butt off!! At 5AM I called mom & said I was on my way down to her place to hunt & asked if she had my eggs, bacon & homefries ready? The silence was deafening! Like they say....."still great getting out"...I guess.

I'm on call at work and I was flooded with no heat calls yesterday and couldn't get out. I'm hoping things quiet down tomorrow (they ain't quiet today) and I can get one more day of hunting in. I mean I have 5C doe tag so I can actually hunt for the rest of the month so it's not do or die tomorrow

Loggy, did you get the generic rely that everybody gets or a personal reply from a commissioner? I rec'd those "generic types" in the past which were obviously computer auto reply generated with a day. This reply was not one of those all I can say. Still waiting on a phone call thoughper my request....not holdin my breath!! You still waiting on a reply??

You still waiting on a reply?? I always get the generic ones. Still waiting on any kind of personal reply which I am not expecting. My commissioner doesn't even read emails from other commissioners.

Not me. The normal 45 minute drive to my spot will be “interesting “ at the least. Plus, on Saturday my gate key cracked so I don’t have a key to get in.
I’ll enjoy the view today & likely tie up a few more flies!!

Working today as I am not one of the fortunate people paid by taxpayers to sit at home today. If I were off, I would probably be archery hunting close to home.

After 45 years of not getting all of those extra taxpayer paid days off, I still won't have a taxpayer pension. As long as I am paying taxes, which I will be until I die, my "wisdom" will not be tempered as these unsustainable benefits continue. But hey, to all of those enjoying today off on me, enjoy it while I pay for it! Anyways, back to the flintlock hunt, lol.

It’s pretty much a given that government workers “trade” their ability’s to make more money in the private sector for a pension.
Now, that doesn’t mean some are protected in their government jobs, but there are unproductive workers in the private sector….that through fees or product cost, we all pay for.
And IIRC there are no more DB Plans for Federal new hires.
Some of the smartest, nicest people I know work in the government sector. Even a few IRS Agents!!
Now, back to flintlocks.

My last 10-15 years in the Service I was averaging 100 nights per year away from my family on various assignments all over the country. These were career sacrifices that my family paid a price for especially when the kids were growing up. Yeah....just another guberment drone sitting behind a desk counting beans. So many that take cheap shots don't have the faintest clue. Well I didn't start this but anyhow....now back to Flintlock hunting.

I'm a professional (take that with a grain of sodium), and get a private sector pension through my company, which is non-union. THAT is unheard of in this day and age, but I shirley will appreciate it. That said, my first cousin just retired last week as a PA state correctional officer. He's a tad younger than me. He (and a gang of others) loaded up on all the OT they could garner these last few years, in order to bump up his pension. They take the salary of the last X amount of years for the pension calc. His one buddy made over 200K doubling out, working ungodly OT, etc... My cousin made somewhere around the 150K mark the past few years. He also spent 4 yrs out of HS in the Air Force, and was able to buy that time towards his pension/retirement. Pretty fair gig if ya ask me. And the folks of PA are kicking for it ? I'm not so sure that is right ? .... or perhaps it is. Ain't America, AND PA, GREAT ! Oh ya... back to the flinter malarkey. LOL

Not only are public sector pensions and bennies unsustainable, but many of those that benefit from them actually laugh about how they and their superiors game the system to increase their benefits.

Well another season has come to an end, didn't make it out today due to a colonoscope appointment, kind of got the shaft in more ways than one. You guys can now continue this hijacked thread and continue to beat up on me and the rest of us retired PA workers, if you like. I smile every month the bank receives the check. Not my fault that the state retirement plan is what it is, that blame belongs to Ed Rendell and his cronies. Wasn't about to turn it down when it happened, not even sure I could of if I wanted to. Me I'm going to kick back with a cold one shortly and reminisce about the past season. May even check on how my long term investments are looking😁

I certainly hope you aren't rump hurt over me relaying my first cousins retirement lead-up, and set-up from a state correctional facility ? I don't know who retired from where, and I don't give a sh!t. LOL He, and those fellas he worked with, were afforded the opportunity to drastically increase their pensions, and they took advantage of it by working long and extra days. Right or wrong, I would have done the same..... given the opportunity. DUH ! But facts is facts. And I'm simply relaying a fact.
Not sure that is "beating you up", in particular. You could have been an Astronaut for all I know. LOL

As far as colonoscopy's. I've had 2 or 3 ? And I never had a better short sleep in my life. When that sh!t pumps into your veins, it's nighty night.

As for the Astronaut, close enough. Spent the last 25 years of my employment at an airport. Did everything from clean the restrooms to, ARFF / First Responder along with everything in-between that keeps the airport open and the aircraft flying, with the exception of repairing the aircraft, did that in the Navy. Oh, and yes I bought my military time to boost my retirement too. As for the retirement thingy, to some extent most anyone who works for an hourly wage can do it, as long as overtime is available. Your social security payment is based, to some degree, on the amount of wages you made through out life, and years worked. The more $'s you make the more SS you pay in, the longer you work the more $'s you pay in and the longer you wait to pull SS the more $'s you receive. Not quite as good as state workers get, but the formula is the same.

Maybe you're making a "general" statement, but I'm not disagreeing with you on anything. LOL As far as SS. Uncle Sam has taken a boatload of cash from me in the 40 years I've been on his books. The first 4 of that being very menial, as I worked parttime while going to school. I would love for my "good uncle" to give me a lump sum check of the cash he took from me by way of his legal ponzi scheme. We can call it even. He can wipe me from his books, and I'll invest MY money as I wish. My good uncle can even keep the interest he's made off of my money over those decades. lol. Since I plan on starting to have my good uncle start paying me at 62 (70%), I'm sure I'll never live long enough to recover it all back (see the legal ponzi scheme comment), but I'm gonna give it the ol' what for and try.
