Common sense dictated that something would change this year. I bet a lot of people are scrambling this morning to hit the streams. I don't even think the stream by me was stocked yet as they usually wait till a few days before hand to do it cause the water quality is low.

I've already received two updates on this early opener decision. One from Arway, one from PFSC. But Dutch still beat me to da punch.
My guess, so few will have gotten the word, that there will still be the usual crowds on the 18th, or at least by this coming Saturday as word spreads?

Don't fish for trout much outside of while at camp spring gobbler hunting but seems like a wise move during this time.

Does anyone know, did they stock ALL trout and there will be no in season stockings?

Unbelievable , No not really, nothing that is done by any Pennsylvania agency or government bureaucracy surprises me anymore.

Does anyone know, did they stock ALL trout and there will be no in season stockings? Fom; fbweb.pa.gov/stocking/TroutStockingDetails_GIS.aspxAt 8:00am on Tuesday, April 7th, the 2020 Trout Season was officially opened. Anglers must practice social distancing guidelines under Governor Tom Wolf's Stay-at-Home Order. Due to COVID-19 concerns and federal, state and local orders about crowds and social distancing, the PFBC will not be releasing information about trout stocking schedules this year.

www.media.pa.gov/Pages/fish-and-Boat-Commission-Details.aspx?newsid=316PFBC staff will continue to stock trout throughout the spring, but not all waters have been stocked at this time. To further discourage group gatherings, a stocking schedule and list of waters that have been stocked will not be provided to the public this season. Anglers should also be aware that public access to some waters may be restricted by the landowner or local municipal government.

Well this just turned into a classic FUBAR. I suspect there's going to be a lot of backlash over this decision by the fish commission.

I can only believe that the hatchery's have "trout in the pipeline" being grown for stocking. I can't see where they could "stop" that at this point....aside from just doing a mass hatchery fish kill. Which would be a foolish thing to do.

There also might be a trout food shortage due to a fire at the plant that makes food

After thinking about this , it wasn’t that bad of a move. There now should be a thinning of the crowd that comes with a Saturday opening, and with the surprise opening there are few fishing today, and those that are may be high risk retired individuals.

6+ Million applied for unemployment. I'm thinking not all that are out feeshin', are retired.
3/4 of Fayette County, being career welfare, or comp/disability recipients, can fish ANY day they want. And that has nothing to do with the current viral situation.

My brother who lives in north western Potter , lost his job in the PA oil patch two weeks ago, took his two son's out yesterday. They fished about one hundred yards of Creek and caught 43 . Ranging from 10-22" . All nice trout. They kept the two biggest and three that swallowed the hook. The rest went back. The creek runs through his 345 acres. They were the only ones that fished it. Then one fella showed up at 415 and he was gone in 40 minutes. It was stocked by PF&B twice the past 3 weeks and the local rod and gun twice.
