Not sure this is appropriate here but....
This morning I lucked out and was able to buy several cases of ammo for my three rifles. On the way home I stopped at the gas station and this drop-dead gorgeous blonde was filling up her car at the next pump.
She looked at the ammo in the back of my car and said in a very sexy voice, "I'm a big believer in barter, big boy. Would you be interested in a trade of sex for ammo?"
I thought it over for a few seconds and responded, "Well, what kind of ammo have you got to trade?"

On a semi related note I guess. Stopped at the local Gander Mountain today to pick up some 22/250. The shelves were pretty much bare of anything other than birdshot.
Crazy what is going on right now. For a good reason I might add.

If ya have enuff patience to wait a few months plus have any cash/credit left......bring your wheelbarrow & load up!! Plus I understand that there are several companies to soon offer high volume underground ammo storage configerations that can safely store up to 100,000 plus rounds of small caliber in your underground bunkers! lol

Well, I swung by Walmart-O on the way home tonight... nada, except for some basic rifle ammo and shotgun shells. The guy there said they have been daily shipments, but it's gone first thing in the morning. Don't know his rank or really what he knows, but I get it. THe shotgun shell value packs were $27... that's $4-$7 more than I was paying last year.
Then I swung by my LGS and got even more disappointed. No popular ammo at all unless you bought a gun. Then, they allow you to buy one box with the gun purchase. I asked about rifle I want and they said good luck. I said I saw them at Gander Mountain a month ago for a not-too-bad price and asked if I should have just gotten it then. YES. See it, want it, buy it. He said he'd never tell anyone to buy from Gander, but at this point, do it.
The place had 15 guys when I walked in and I checked out some revolvers for carry that he'd just gotten and said would sell quick. I said hey, business must be great! No. He can't get anything to sell. How about that? I mean he had stuff, but just not what I wanted, or what most people want these days. He also said it was going to get worse.
The whole time I was there, the other folks behind the counter were just dialing and redialing PICS to catch up with those. A guy walked in, saw a rifle (S&W MP-15?) sitting behind the counter, don't know if it was held for him or what, but he bought and told him this better be the fastest paperwork you ever filled out and kept dialing.
So, wow. It's real. Now what?

IMHO, just give it some time, and it will all calm down and get back to normal. Ammo makers are cranking out as much as they can...and the guys who "hoarded" up the existing stock will not buy more when it calms down, so ammo prices will come back to normal.
Dave
If not.....does anyone have a recipe for primers and gunpowder???

Went to a couple of flea markets last Sunday. Those guys were plain greedy in their ammo prices. Box of 16 ga. the one guy wanted 12.50 a box plain old 6 shot. Another wanted 17. A 550 rd. brick of Federal the guy wanted 60. I can wait a while for things to hopefully settle down.

Was in Gander mt about a week ago, 25-06 shells were $37.95 for a box of 20, plain ol' 130 psp remingtons
Next thing you be hearing about is a guy with a trench coat on crusin' the game lands parking lots "pssst hey buddy want ta buy a shell" as he opens the coat and shows you rows of shells on the inside.

DHS is buying over a billion rounds of ammo and some armored vehicles. Given all the rhetoric over the past year about things like revolution and secession it's no surprise.

Maub...likely prices will be bumped-up short-term till most in the market finally realize the unfounded buying frenzy was totally unfounded. Then we will see things getting back to whut the market supply/demands supports pricewise.
My projection is that due to an overwheming glut of ammo due to hyped manufacturing ...we will in time see prices dip below price levels before when those that thought the Big Bad Boggieman was gonna getem!! lol

I agree to a point Loggy. Prices are already dipping some and as supplies increase that should help, but I don't think they will ever go back to "'pre-panic" prices. However, my point was that Gander Mt.(our local Gander at least) has always been notoriously high in their pricing of ammo - ridiculously so.

Just give him the credit for it is all I ask he stirred it up and now everyone suffers from it when they need to buy ammo. He may be my president but won't consider him it of say he is. I can except responsibility for my actions when will he start?

My projection is that we are ONE more AR incident away from yet another round of anti 2A crap.
One more is all it will take and this time, I doubt it will be stopped.

The guy in the White House, and his appointee's, will do all he can to take every firearm from every law abiding citizen.
Anyone who doesn't think that is true is living in La-La land.
I'll bet anyone a steak dinner, you name to place in western Pa, that a brick of .22 ammo never goes below $20.00
