I wonder if it's just luck that the person who wins the highest bid in the auction license usually harvests the largest bull

Not sure but I think the auction winner gets a guided hunt and the bull they go after is well-patterned.My buddy films that hunt every year and I'm pretty sure that's how it goes.

It is but it's still a cool deal for a guy like Todd who had the opportunity to draw a tag.I've never put in for the drawing but did send in for my son this past year.

I agree drawin an elk tag would be a great expieience, but I feel all elk should be fair game to all who draw a tag. Money should not determine who gets a crack at the largest.

I'm not really up on it but I thought one of the winners got a guided hunt and mount out of the deal.Actually,I forgot about the Auction tag.I was thinking of the KECA raffle.

Rubs me the wrong way with so few bull tags, two are taken out for special draws. On top of that, non residents are treated the same as residents.

I refuse to apply for a tag, until they drop that minimum 270 crap. If the 25-06 was good enough for my favorite (deceased) gun writer, Bob Milek on elk, it's good enough for me.

Want me to print you a tag GENE? That might just work. I have seen many hand written tags originating from Fayette County of the years.

I've seen hand written doe tags a time or two, back in The Golden Era of doe seasons. One year when my uncle was in his early 80s, there was lots of activity in his tractor shed across from the house. He asked me WTH was going on out there and how many deer were hanging in his shed. Told him there were "a few" out there and growing by the hour. He asked how many were tagged, told him "some", if I counted hand written ones. He was on the verge of putting his boots on and heading over there. Same day my cousin's FIL was down in the heated milk house cutting up deer, when the barn inspector showed up, as there was still a dairy operation going on. He asked her if there was a problem, she said "I've seen nothing here of interest", filled out the inspection report on the clipboard and left. Cousin had to head down there to see if she'd noted any infractions and she hadn't.
