Well I got the plots mowed off this weekend. They are looking really good and the clover is pretty thick. Going to spray them in a week or 2 with imox. Only downside is I got the Kubota stuck in a ravine. When I went to use the come-a-long to get it out a torrential thunderstorm hit and then it really made the ravine a muddy mess. Finally got it out but it was a bit of an ordeal. Untitled by cspot12, on Flickr Untitled by cspot12, on Flickr Untitled by cspot12, on Flickr Untitled by cspot12, on Flickr

Got my plots sprayed today with imox. They are looking good. I put a camera up last week when I mowed and I had a couple hundred pics in a week, so the deer are hitting it pretty hard. Untitled by cspot12, on Flickr Untitled by cspot12, on Flickr Untitled by cspot12, on Flickr

Good to see the thread come back up. What kind of clover did you plant? Did you buy it on line or a farm supply place?

Good to see the thread come back up. What kind of clover did you plant? Did you buy it on line or a farm supply place? I ordered from Merit Seed in Berlin Ohio. I went for the frontage blend. I also mixed in Red Crimson Clover which is an annual clover. That worked well the last time I frost seeded. I think I put 7lb of the frontage and 6lb of the crimson clover on 1/2 acre which is good bit of seed. LOL. It should hopefully take. I plan on spraying around June 1 with imox to kill the grass and weeds. meritseed.com/frontage-clover-blend-perennial-coated-pre-inoculated/

Well I bought a new toy. Got a couple of family members with their health in not the best shape so we are mowing alot more grass these days. Their yards aren't well suited for my tractor and finish mower and my craftsman lawn tractor is a bit on the small side. My Kubota that I got for camp doesn't have a belly mower. So I decided to get a new tractor with belly mower that I could also also use at camp with the brush hog and tiller. I sold my Kubota and am trying to get rid of my Craftsman mower. This will allow me to have 1 less engine to maintain. Just got it Thursday before the PA shutdown. I like it alot. The quick attach mower deck is sweet. It takes less than a minute each way. Haven't hooked anything on the back yet. Untitled by cspot12, on Flickr

Nice! You can do a lot with that machine. Now you just have to spend about another 50,000 for all of the new fangled implements, lol.

That's a sweet little tractor. Does JD still use Yanmar engines in their machines? I have an old Yanmar from the mid eighties with more than 2200 hours on it and other than maintenance stuff has never needed any work. I use it many for tilling, mowing and plowing snow. The little diesels are great little machines.
BTW, how is the frontage clover blend you planted doing? Is it the seed you would plant again? I plant lots of tree and some other stuff but never planted a food plot.

It should be germinating soon and coming up, but I haven't been at camp for a couple of weeks now to see if any is coming. Hoping to make it there next weekend if I can. With everything going on that may be another week or two.

Did mow the grass a couple of nights ago with the tractor and it is pretty nice. Power steering is great. Good traction, but doesn't tear up the yard even in the wet areas. Plenty of power too. Hopefully in a few weeks I will be able to hook the brush hog on the back to run it a bit.

Did some scouting this weekend and decided to run on down to camp to check on the place as I hadn't been there for several weeks. My established clover plots are looking pretty good. I also saw some clover coming in the field by the cabin that I frost seeded this Spring. Didn't take any pics of it, but plan on spraying it in another month or 2. Haven't updated this for a while. I frost seeded the field by the cabin this Winter with clover and have mowed it a couple of times. Got some clover germination, but I wouldn't say great. I sprayed today with Imox and hit it with another dose of seed. First pic is me seeding it. THe next 2 pics are my other 2 established plots down there. THey really look good. Last weekend I hit some weeds with the weedwhacker and then this weekend I spot sprayed some imox. Really happy with how these 2 plots look. May not show up well in the pics but the clover is really thick and tall. Untitled by cspot12, on Flickr Untitled by cspot12, on Flickr Untitled by cspot12, on Flickr

I want to get a 3 point broadcast spreader at some point for mine. I have a pull behind ground driven one but it gets a bit top heavy on sidehills. The 3 point would be better.
