Went down to camp yesterday and today with the oldest daughter, but we didn't hunt. Got alot of brush cut along the logging roads and now we have all the places cleared that I wanted to get done this winter.. We did see alot of deer sign, but no shed antlers. We also took down the burlap, seat cushions, and lifelines off the treestands. Bought a bag of trace mineral salt and got a mineral site setup today. Hoping in a few weeks to get some lime spread and frost-seed some clover. We have gotten a good bit of work completed already this winter. Glad the brush cutting is done as that is some nasty work when doing it by hand. Sorry didn't take any pics today.

It's a great time to cut softmaple, the buds make some great feed for your deer.

Once it greens up, spray where that brush was cut to keep the stuff from coming back.
We sprayed some nasty bushes along log roads last year. Once they died and the roots sorta loosened up, pulled them out with the atv and a tow strap.

Plan on spraying to help kill that back to keep it from overgrowing so quickly.

I like mixing 2,4,D and Gly generally, if I really want a punch. Seems like sometimes Gly just doesn't do it, unless, as cheap as I am, I mix it lite?

I sprayed some of it last year to use some extra in my sprayer when I sprayed the plot. It did kill it, but it took a while. Of course I am lazy so I don't want to have to do it twice so I usually mix a little heavy. LOL.

One year I musta mixed it WAY to hot, and nothing grew for about 4 years!
I used that same mix to spray a couple trails to treestands, man did that work!

That's a 40 gallon tank?
That trail is prime for spraying when it greens up, just to kill off the remaining stuff on the right. You thinking of planting that trail? Or isn't there enough sunlight?

Yep it is 40 gallon. Hard to see in the pics but it is pretty deep. I may plant the trail eventually. I plan on mowing and will probably spray sometime this summer as well. It is a logging road that is graded into the hill, so there really isn't much of any topsoil on it to grow anything good. Lots of rock and clay.

Add some lime, and fertilizer to that trail, and you'll have something.

Add some lime, and fertilizer to that trail, and you'll have something. My work staff was complaining about the 1/2 ton of lime we had to haul back to the other 2 plots, so I may have to put the trail off for another year. LOL. The Gorilla wagon works well but it is still a pain going uphill with a couple hundred pounds of lime and wet ground. I may get some down there later this year when it drys up and I can take the JD Gator down with me.

I put out a 50 lb bag of loose trace mineral salt in Feb and then put out a 50lb block in the same spot a couple of weeks ago. The deer are starting to hit it pretty good especially the doe.
Also got a video of a yote as well.

Did you kill those trees before you cut them? I mean, were they standing dead?
