Both nests have failed this season in the Pittsburgh area. Eagles have reportedly left the nest in Hays.

Eaglets getting big quick. Not sure mom or dad sits on them anymore, or just in front? Skunk seems to be moving to the rear more and more?! I think I can smell that nest from here...?!?!

I think it's just phenomenal how fast a raptor grows. They hatch when there's still snow and frigid temps and will fledge when all other creatures are having their young.

If you notice, the camera is a bit fogged up today. According to PGC the Eagles likely peed or poo'd or both on the cam! Potty training! We have the same problem at my house these days with the 2 year old. I get it.
They are hoping for a good rain to clear it up.

My wife and I had dinner last night with a couple of friends and our conversation turned to the "eagle watch" both at Hanover and Sheperdstown WV. I told Denny that I was sure that I counted three eaglets in the nest at Sheperdstown a few weeks ago but I only saw two when I checked in on them a couple days ago. I told him I must have miscounted. He assured me that there were three eaglets born but the one died from a mishap.
As sometimes happens in a normal asynchronous hatch, the last eaglet is at a huge disadvantage in terms of obtaining food and protecting itself. The youngest and smallest eaglet died, appearing to be crushed by the carcass of a large fish brought to the nest by one of the adults during feeding time. While sadness is a very human response to death, it is important to remember that the nesting death is part of the natural selection process.

You can kind of see better now. I guess no hard rains yet. The young are up walking around nest with a parent. They are big. Looks like it's greening up fast there too.

The shear number of eagles around Pymatuning is incredible, if your bored its worth a ride around the lake.
