Loggy, I used to when I lived in NC. and was stationed near Havelock at Cherry Point. I had a blast. We'd set some string with a chicken bone attached and pull em up, sometimes, two and three at a time.
Loved crab then and still do. Wouldn't mind a trip there to do that again at some point!

Got out Friday(6/14) and had a great crabbin day!! Caught the incoming tide for its last 4 hours & caught 80 nice crabs. The T-120 Topless Big Foot traps worked exactly as designed for! Getting Ready For the Steamer: My Buddy Luke Pulling a Nice Hardshell Out of the trap:

Crabbin got off to a slow start this year for me. 2nd trip last weekend we did 2/3 bush on 6 runs of a 1200' trotline. Traps didn't do much. Was rear ended coming home from first trip and my Crestliner was totaled. Just got her the way I wanted too. Working on setting up a Lund now. Gonna give it hell over the 4th. Wondered where you got to. ( zebbersdad on another fourm). Ever try the JO's seasoning? Happy belated birthday.

I cancelled my membership on the other site while back due to site failing to meet my expectations so pulled anchor as I see many others are also following the same which is no surprise.. Sorry to hear about your Crestliner. Hope your Lund will soon be ready...hard to beat a Lund. I use JO plus Old bay. I favor the JO but both are purdy good. Look forward to your reports! Here's the JO I use:

Thanks for the info rockeye. I see Chessy's prices are pretty good for J.O. Will have to ck them out. Ive been buying JO#2 in 1LB containers since it seems to keep more fresh vs the larger 5 pounders. Today i ordered a 44 qt Bayou Classic steamer as my granite ones are gettin a lil shakey. They say alum doesnt hold-up at all so went with SS. Its good for bout 1/2 bushel plus of the size i catch.

I have been using my turkey fryer for steaming, does ok. I need to invest in a rig like that Loggy. Going down for a few days over the 4th and am taking all the gear. 1200' trotline and 30 TT's. I have never ran that much gear, Gen use taps early, late and a dozen or so to prospect for line. Going to have 3 couples and 2 boats so the boat without the prop stick can pull traps. Things started late this year but have picked up. Rock fishing has been hot enough that we have not had to run far or join the fleet.

The new layout of the board doesn't recognize birthdays. So, didya retire or not? No retirement yet Dutch. Footing my girls 8 years of college(4 each) plus my oldest Daughters uninsured cancery surgery, radiology, scans & so on expenses has me in a work mode for a lil while longer. Least all the medical providers allow for a mthly payment plan without interest but even with that its keeping me in the work mode for a while longer. She coulda went on various low income medical assistance programs but I said Id prefer to help vs that route. Workin at Target partime while continuing her education doesnt go too far these day especially in tying to pay for major cancer surgery/treatment etc. One could buy a home or 2 with what it cost. Helping my kidos in anyway i can is what lifes all about to me...plus doing some huntin, fishin & crabbin!!

Man...sounds like you are well equiped to fill dem baskets!! I will be down the week after the 4th which will be my Mrs first trip. She loves crabbin. Heard a lot of good reports on the E-Z Catch traps with weighted side doors. They say in strong tides they are outstanding. Ever use them?

Just stocked-up via an online order of several pound's of J.O. #2 Crab steamin spice which should carry me through the end of this season.. Found some good pricing from J.O. direct order from their factory. J.O. Spice CompanyThought id givem a try in addition to my Eastern Marine source. If anyones interested theres a 10% discount if you enter Code: FISH which I found in the MD 2013 Fishing Regulations book that came with my Chesapeake Bay Sport Boat License.

Tongs! Real crabbers don't use no stinking tongs. Amen John but with the VMRC hot to trot in nailing folks with undersized crabs...no choice but measuring each to ensure they are 5" point to point thus tongs needed vs adventurous hands! lol
