Muzzleloader season starts tomorrow morning in MD. I will be out with my Thumbhole Stock CVA Optima magnum and 295 grain powerbelts pushed by 110 grains of that dirty old Pyrodex.. Seems to work for me. Trouble is, winter is trying to move in. Forecast is 25 degrees with 15-25 mph winds. brrrr.. we have been hunting in almost shirt sleeve weather for the last month.

Too rich for my pocket! I went to my local store the other day fully intending to replace my old pyrodex. Blackhorn 209 was $45 for a ten oz. Can. Triple Seven was $34 for a 16 oz. Can. I bought the triple Seven. But tomorrow i will shoot the old Pyrodex. I have not had a chance to try the Triple Seven yet.

I dumped all my loose T-7 & pellets. Never used Pyro nor ever will per established bad reports. If u do any amount of shooting you will do the same plus the T-7 shelf life is very limited before it is worthless. Ur pocket's short term savings may be happy when walking out of the store but in the long haul IMO not so happy. Been through it all....just sharing my observations.

Glenn....Gander has it for $39.99 & Cabelas for $36.99. I bought some at a local dealer for a lil cheaper so it pays to shop around.
I load 100 grains which gives me approx 60-65 shots per 10oz bottle. Your cost per shot is in the 60 cts range.

I'm a big fan of 777 after the wife raised such a stink over such a stink I was raising in the basement when I was cleaning three rifles after a day's outing! It was at that point, that 777's formulation of NOT containing sulfur, became a very important element of my muzzle-loading. The smell at cleaning is more than greatly reduced. Heck, the Rusty Duck Black Off cleaner just smells like rubbing alcohol and it's quick and effective! I smell the cleaner more than the powder! The combination is made in heaven.
