Truthity Ri'chere. It has to be REAL tough raising a family of youngin's in 2024. My wife never had to work, basically because I spent a year of my life building my own home. If we had a young family (5) in 2024, I think "pumpkin" would be plying her trade in the workforce. Every time I see a 50-60K truck pass by me, I can't help to think what kind of debt some people are in nowadays. Learned a long time ago just because someone is driving around in a new vehicle all the time that it doesn't mean they have much to their name. The begger on the street corner is richer then some I know driving in the luxury vehicle.

Some of those trucks.....well....a lot of those trucks are leased. Lessen the cash flow. The person who leases just pays for the depreciation, & hidden loan interest buried in the lease.
Now...as for a fix to SS. You would have to get a bit creative here. Could go the privatization route and require the SS tax be placed into a trust fund (like an IRA) but with few exceptions for withdrawing it. No first time home buyer thing, no short term medical thing, etc.
The issue with that is, the current receipts will still get their payments and any new money would not go into the SS fund. OTOH....the fund is gonna take a hit one way or another and require a bail out of some sort.

I absolutely get tired of all the whining. Im 21 and can't afford a BRAND NEW TRUCK. Groceries are expensive. Interest rates are " high".
Americans go thru easy times and then when it gets a little tougher, THEY FREAKING WHINE. Its like no one ever went thru rough times before.
Difficult times teach us new lessons, for those who's parents didn't teach them those lessons.
I don't know how many recessions and periods of higher inflation I've been thru, but I'm just tired of hearing it.
If money isn't stretching, change your habits. Maybe you don't NEED that store bought coffee in the morning, maybe your kids can do without some stuff, it's life, accept and move on

No you aren't owed .I paid my way through college, paid my student loans off, took on lots of risk to start a businees and had no life as a result. We all make our own choices in life but many things could be much better.
I personally don't need a new truck.I just got my old one back yesterday because my son just bought a new one.I'm fine with him buying a brand new one.He took good care of my old one and works his ass off.He put a little over half down on it and will most likely pay it off within a year or two.He didn't whine about anything. He works swing shift and works loads of overtime. As far as I'm concerned he earned it and he's being rewarded for his hard work. He's 18 and I'm 55 with much different priorities. He just gave me my old one back with 146000 miles on it.I'm gonna try to squeak at least 2 more years out of it.

Vehicles never meant anything to me.I always drove junk until my wife said that my kids were embarrassed to go anywhere with me.I bought a new Truck in 2016 and now since they don't go anywhere with me,I drive junk once again.

At least guns can be a good investment.Vehicles rarely are.Anytime I go to get rid of one, there always worth more to me than they're actually worth.I have a 2014 WILLYS unlimited that I'll probably sell. It's been a great vehicle but I'll be lucky to get 16K.

I feel fortunate to have lived when I did.My wife didn't have to work either and I was to make sure my kids had a pretty good life.It wasn't about the material things as much as the memories but those memories cost some loot. There's no way that would be possible if I was just starting out today.

LOL This one does not have the cool factor as an old Willys.I like it and I'd keep it but I need a truck and don't feel like having the expense of an extra vehicle.I need to put a roof on my house and that should come close to paying for the materials.

My wife went through a mid-life crisis when she hit 40 and wanted a lifted Wrangler.Since then, that's all she's driven. My son is 18 and likes lifted trucks.I could care less and my daughter could car less.I went through the same mid life crisis when I turned 40 and bought a Kabota with a bucket.I am a wild and crazy guy.

I hate buying vehicles they are a bad investment. I drive mine til they die but I do get a half decent one to start that way I don't need to worry about breaking down and able to get my rear end to work. Tough to make money without a reliable vehicle. The engines no longer are your concern it's that northeast rust you have to worry about. They rust out quicker then before the engine will give out.

I think for every 4 hvac techs that retire only one replaces them. It's going to be good when the economy gets going again. Then I can listen to the people on facebook complain that they can't get a plumber or hvac guy. Well there is too much demand for just a few guys.
