Just got word that the courts ruled in favor of the bear hunt... So it's open right now... But it's pouring out... But might go check some of my other non cell cameras... Gonna leave gun home, watch I bump into one...

I wonder if a friend of your governor had an issue with bears, and now you again have a bear season Dutch, I heard a very close friend of the family, their son evidently had a very very close encounter with a bear... Don't know if it's true or not, but heard it from 2 people... I do know there was a call in poll last month and Murphy's office got bombarded with complaints... People are fed up with the bears .

Any dead bear in NJ will help their situation.

I didn't realize NJ had this regulation:
Season Bag limit is one bear over 75 pounds live weight, or 50 pounds dressed,

I didn't realize NJ had this regulation: Season Bag limit is one bear over 75 pounds live weight, or 50 pounds dressed, Considering their political troubles with this season, that is a great law. If the NJ antis would see some of cubs I've seen brought into check stations they'd get a lot of mileage off of it

I sorta remember here in PA many years ago we had a No Cubs reg...100 lbs??? Larry.... That's a new rule put in for this year's hunt... That along with no shooting of sows with cubs... I like both rules, maybe even up the weight limit to 150lbs... Yes, years ago Pa. did have a law where cubs were illegal... However a bear is technically a cub until it developed a certain tooth... Thus hunters were shooting good sized bears that did not have this tooth and were being fined at check stations for shooting a cub... Therefore the game commission made all bears legal...

Oh man....now you gotta get a degree in dentistry. And THAT was the easy part!! The hard part was getting that bear to open his mouth so you could stick your head real close to examine the teeth. They didn't call those guys "Mountain Men" fer nuthin.

Rich...you carrying an inline for bear?? Larry... In the past when we had the Oct season I used either my compound or crossbow depending where I was hunting from... That early week you also could use your inline the last 3 days... So I also used that... This year however the season was a last minute decision... So no bow... Just firearms are legal now, either muzzle loader or shotgun... So I'll be using my 870 slug gun in 12 gauge with 3 inch Accu-Tips.. Being born and raised in Western Pa. I love hunting laurel, so shots are under 50 yds... Even the biggest bear has no chance.. If Bozo wasn't so far in I'd take a walk in and see if he's still around.. Had tons of pics of him and seen him in person but never when hunting him... Sending you a pic so you can post it...I often wondered how was I getting him out if I shot him... LOL

Thanks Larry... He was a big one.. Had to quit hunting him cause our wonderfully governor at the time could not stop the bear hunt, however he could stop hunting on all state lands... That bear was on state land.. And yes he liked his donuts... Which is legal in Jersey...

Illegal to shoot bears under a certain weight. Thats impossible to judge in the field.

Not really,If they look like a bowling ball, don't shoot.Bears aren't that hard to judge.

Not really,If they look like a bowling ball, don't shoot.Bears aren't that hard to judge. I guess you are the atypical "expert" on bears. Most seasoned bear hunters and bear outfitters often say that bears are one of the toughest game animals to judge in the field. A weight limit cannot be judged in the field. The only judge is a scale.
