We think and play alike... Cody Calls are a master of wild turkey hen and gobbler calling, tone and pitch and rythm sound like wild turkey calling.
I personally like and use the Southern Belle box call and MO Camo DDS Glass call, along with the other 8 or 10 Cody Slate, Glass, and a sweetheart of a Chestnut HOLIE box call in my turkey bag. Ohhhh did I mention the Cherry HOLIE, MO Camo Walnut HOLIE, and SPEC I Slate and World Class Glass calls I call.
My Legend Call will never make it to the woods, along with a dozen or so autographed others.
Bill Zearing is the M.L. Lynch of the 1990's-2010's. Don...

My favorite calls are the Roger Parks series. Roger's from up around Mifflintown. Of that series, it's hard to beat his "tree-talker" call. It sounds just like birds in the roost in the early morning hours and it absolutely drives gobblers nuts in the Spring.

Thanks..

Larry, I know Roger from the NWTF meetings we've attended in State College. I have a phone number for him somewhere around here...I'll try to find it and post it. The tree-talker has a unique shape and when you run it, it's call is barely audible. But it sounds just like the birds I heard yesterday in Fulton County. It certainly keeps the birds around in the morning when you use it...although it doesn't guarantee you a bird as evidenced by our poor showing yesterday. But we had plenty of birds around us. I think Roger sells the calls and strikers for $55 or $60 dollars.

I like to locate them with the Drury boy's "dead silence"dog whistle.Once I have them pinpointed,I bring them in on a dead run with the H.S strut screaming hen. It's so effective,it should be illegal.

I don't bring much with me when I hunt.I sometimes have a box call that I usually use just to get a gobble out of them. The best box call I ever had was a Quaker boy mini boat paddle that I paid 12 bucks for.It didn't even sound all that great but the turkeys just hammered at it.I bought some junk that you were supposed to never have to chalk the call again and completely ruined it.Since then,I've gone through a bunch, incuding some high end custom calls like a Paul's box call.I'd say my favorite go to box call is a woodhaven. The vast majority of the time I just use diaphrams.I usually have a Gulvas masters choice and triple,a couple top calls and a woodhaven red wasp.I like to travel light and keep it simple. The majority of the time,I just have a snuff can with about 4 different mouth calls.

I never used one but I have my doubts.I also though the cruncher was a gimmick. That was until I used it once day.I just got done using it,glanced down at my deerview mirror and had the biggest buck I'd ever seen coming in on a string from behind me.He stopped at my scent web hanging from a tree just as I put a rage through his cage. You should seen it.It was like throwing an axe through a deer.It was getting late so I climbed down, pulled out my butt out tool and had him dressed and loaded in my bad boy buggy within 10 minutes.

It's been a long day and I'm being sarcastic lol.The gimmicks in the outdoor world abound these days.I'm guilty of falling for a few over the years. The drury dead silence sounded like a legitimate technique at the time.I bought their video and was amazed at the results they were getting with that dog whistle and they were just all giddy about it.It worked so well that it lasted on the market almost an entire year before they realized the gig was up.I have absolutely no faith in the majority of marketing scams out there and there's a bunch.Last year I bought one of those Haint gobble calls.I've used a shaker for years in the pre-season just to locate them and thought the haint looked pretty good.I blew $35 and couldn't make it do anything.I figured it was just me but after reading hundreds of posts about it,I found out I wasn't alone.I'm not saying all calls are gimmicks however.Pa has loads and loads of small call builders that sell excellent products because they were designed by real turkey hunters.I like giving my money to those guys.If I were to have a hero in the turkey hunting world,it would be Denny Gulvas. The guy is the nicest, most down to earth and humble guy you would ever meet. He's a world class turkey hunter and caller that makes some of the best instructional videos and calls out there. If anyone wants to increase their success huting turkeys, they need to get one of his dvd's.If you watch hunting pressured gobblers over and over and pick up one of his master's choice and a gulas triple, you're success rate will increase exponentially. The guy is that good and so are his calls.I was killing gobblers sporatically until I went to one of his seminars in the early 90's and picked up a couple of his calls. My success rate soured after that and so did everyone else's who used his techniques.I just ran into him not long ago and he's making a live hen audio tape. The guy sneaks under the roost of a flock of hen and sets up audio equipment during the night and camps out til morning so he can record the soft tree talk in the morning. That's hard core.He knows turkeys and their language better than anyone I've ever seen.
