Not as bad as I used to but I still get stuck once in a while.Years ago,I couldn't wait for every magazine to come in the mail after the shot or ata show.nOW i RARELY PAYATTENTION.I'm kinda at the point of my life where if it isn't broke, don't fix it.I used to really get sucked into archery gimmicks. For quite awhile now, everything I use is pretty basic. When I buy something,I buy quality stuff but I don't take much in the woods with me.That's actually a good subject for a thread. What good quality stuff have you picked up that was actually useful and not a gimmick?I wouldn't even use a turkey vest if it wasn't for the nice comfy seat. The majority of crap that I wasted money on just bogged me down and I never used it.

They are located in Tipton Pa its between Altoona and State College. Right now the webpage is almost done but I think they are now just going to wait till beginning of summer to launch it. They do have a facebook page and they are called Tipton Creek turkey calls. They really do make good pot calls and mouth calls at a good price.
We are lucky this state has a lot of excellent custom turkey call makers

Made my own back in the day when I was all hepped up on turkey hunting. Still have several that work just fine. I no longer believe that the call is all that critical........seen a lot of squawks get attention from toms. Of course, the old boys are, like any game animal, a bit more discerning.

Don, I never used any of the their box calls in the woods but have used mouth calls and I have a slate from them that i have used in the past. They are good calls and good guys. I try and talk with them when I see them at the Jaffa sports show. Again PA has some really good call makers.

No, I only ever purchased one box call, about 42 years ago ......"Lynch" I think. Had a ton of Kelly Cooper mouth calls back when I spent a lot of time at Kellys when he was starting out but I never was a mouth call sort of hunter. Went to making my own some 25 or so years ago and I discovered, as you note above, that getting "out of the box" with wood types produces some interesting results. Below are some I made with paddles and/or boxes of walnut, dogwood, red maple, red oak, birch, beech, cedar and hard maple. I never tried to match paddle and box and I learned you can call a wary gobbler in with any of these combinations.

Mr Rohm, Terry, Robby, and I go back 35 years, even back to Blain Hotel and PA Chapter NWTF Board Meetings held up the road a ways at a persons home. Dale, Terry, and I hunted Texas quite a bit. We couldn't get Robby down there least in the trips we did together. And with Putt couldn't meet a more knowledgeable and turkey call making family of turkey hunters, never their mind deer hunting success. Lots of great turkey hunting stories from back in those years clear up to recent hunting trips. Rohm Brothers box calls stamped Blain and Loysville are still hard to beat in the turkey woods, they are that well built and tuned. Don...

Last Fall I noted that I use Roger Parks Custom Series Turkey Calls almost exclusively. I thought his latest glass call would do the trick Saturday but it was his slate Gobbler Call that almost got the deed done. I said I'd note his phone number on here but I couldn't find it until I was at the bank the other day. Unbeknownst to me, I've been carrying his business card all this time. You'll probably have a hard time getting hold of him as he's probably in Ohio or New York or some other state hunting. His phone numbers are 717-436-5778 or 717-579-0689. My go-to call in the early morning is the tree-talker call. Simply unbelievable.

Have any of you tried Frank Kochenderfer’s long box calls? They are amazing and I’ve been really impressed. He has a FB page: @frank’sTurkeyCalls. You can also reach him by his cell: 717-320-2686. Some of the best calls I’ve ever heard.
