That field looks like a old strip mine. Don't think we will be seeing deer and elk like other years

Last year I watch as some elk cow were grazing and a nice size buck whitetail stepped out. One of the cow's started toward the buck and said buck was wise enough to run across the field. Then that same large buck "engaged" with a smaller one and chased the smaller one into the woods. All happen in under 5 minutes....pretty cool to watch.

Three years ago that field was rocking. The last two years it has been a dud.

I did hear a whip poor will earlier, but no elk no deer I saw a convertible pull up with the even more rare "Whip-er-Til" in the back seat.

Its dead for sure. Not sure if they planted that plot or not but it looks like it was freshly tilled prior to the camera becoming operational. Not much to attract anything in there by the looks of it.

I saw a Kadidid. Yeah......300 yards to the left. Well....I'm pretty sure that's what it was thank you for pointing that out View AttachmentI leave a back porch light on every night. Of course, that attracts a variety of insects. This year I have a Kadidid that "hangs out" usually on a screen. A few days ago that Kadidid got into the house and was hanging out on a few walls. I tried to catch him\her with my hat.....with no success. Darn thing kept flying away when I got close. So....I got my trout net and got him\her and released him\her on the back porch .....which apparently it likes as every morning that Kadidid is hangin out back there. My wife ask me why do I kill groundhogs and go to extreme efforts to keep a bug alive? Well, just like a black snake (I got a few of those out back too) the Kadidid is a very helpful creature in that it eats pesky little bugs while remaining very non-threatening to humans. While a groundhog just makes bigger and bigger holes which benefit field mice.....another creature that I whack whenever I can. (I realize the field mouse is a necessary evil as raptors and snakes use them for food supplies.) Anyway.......FWIW

Mabe next year the PGC can make it a pay per view and charge $25 to keep it up and running.
