LOL.That's absolutely true. You should see when they log in there during winter. The deer are in the tops as the guys are cutting.Baiting wouldn't be nearly effective in AG land as it wood be around these parts.
I used to hunt a guy's place in Ashtabula county Ohio where baiting was legal. This guy's house was full of 140+ inch deer. There's wasn't another spot to put one in his house. He and his brother baited and killed a good percentage of those deer over bait in the late season when there was 2 feet of snow.

He and his brother baited and killed a good percentage of those deer over bait in the late season when there was 2 feet of snow. Certainly a very effective tactic in the late season. Especially in areas of poor habitat.

Yes, late season would be best for baiting. Heck, even with food plots, it's not very often I get daytime pics of deer, even in remote areas. Majority of trail cam pics are nighttime.
When I had a food plot back about 1992, deer were in it all hours of the day, and that was in ag country, no less.

As some of may or may not know, there were a number of years where I was actively taking the fight to the animal rights groups. I even had that nut case from SHARK, Steve Hindi, challenge me to a fist fight. Hindi is the guy that targeted the Higgins shoot anPd recently had his little drone shot out of the sky. He's a violence prone little pri@k. I found that if you want to beat these people in the arena of ideas and win over the people in the middle, you must use nothing but facts & as much scientific wildlife management information as you possibly can. They are using emotion in trying to ban hunting contests and totally avoid what the scientific wildlife management stats tell us about these contests. Use the science, it will win almost every time. Another thing, be nice to them, especially when others are around. Use science, facts, and kindness, and that will drive them nuts and their true evil and violent selves get exposed. They'll resort to name calling very quickly...and you will have won. I remember when I was first invited on the CN8's The Lynn Doyle show to debate a couple of animal rights activists about hunting. One in particular I knew but he didn't know me. When I was taken to the green room I walked up th him and introduced myself and told him I was the Montgomery County Representative of the UBP. I asked him how his Green Party campaign for Congess was going in NJ and if he won, would he still be involved in animated shows for children? I also proclaimed that he and I agreed on everything regarding animals except for 1 item...on what is an acceptable way for animals to die. It totally disarmed him and we actually talked like adults and enjoyed each others company. He also told me that I didn't fit the stereotypical description of a bowhunters, to which I replied that I pretty much was an example of the average bowhunters. Anyway, I torched him and the other animal rights activists ( one from PETA) on an hour long live TV show. When they took calls from the tv viewers, the ar supporters did nothing but call me names and try to insult me..I won in the arena of ideas. A year later I debated the group that was trying to shut down the NJ Bear hunt and did pretty well in that one as well. The show's executive producer heard me talk about scientific wildlife management and bow hunting a few times a some parties and decided to invite me on the show.

watched this thread a LONG time also. The Higgins thing was being 'contested' long before I went to Harrisburg, seems it's being contested long after I left. Don't really expect it won't be being contested long after I'm dead. It took a while, but I have finally managed to allow myself the incredible privilege of just watching most pi**ing matches from a good distance UPwind. Any and all issues that evoke emotion, or challenge beliefs, tend remind me most of a dozen beagles, three of them in heat, set down at a field trial, while the donuts and coffee are still out. I've had that thought at Elemerton Ave. more than once, too.
Years later now, after too long setting my coffee and donut down, and trying to seperate the dogs...I've decided there is some small, very small least common denominator.
There are those comfortable enough with and within their own moral guidelines, they needn't even begin to attempt to 'sell' them to anyone else. Ironically, they are also the ones who tend to beget true progress in the right and proper direction.
And I will be the very first to admit...I learned this the very hard way.

Stroupy, their roots are from the Chicago area. Steve Hindi owns a company that manufactures and disributes casters and uses his own money to do things. He used to fly an ultra-light over a club in IL to harass their pigeon shoots. He has an ego like a rock star, he holds a black belt in karate, and is very much in love with himself...and that's his weakness.

He never hunted, he fished and calls that hunting. He said he became an animal rights activist after shark hunting in montauck. He caught a small mako and decided hunting was wrong and vwalla! He became an animal rights activist.

Also they don't seem to realize that by speaking out the way they do probably causes more animals to suffer then if they would just mind there own business.
