Here's how it went down Gene. The had spotters out looking for this particular elk.The one spotter located the elk and called the guide, who drove the hunter to where the elk was,ie using illegal devices to find game. They spotted the elk,got out and shot it within 10 feet of the road.Everything about the way they killed the elk was illegal and unethical and it happens pretty frequently.

The PGC over scrutinizes every bear kill looking for trouble in a state were bears are abundant. The scrutiny they put on the elk hunt is probably extremely robust as well, especially for the special tag hunts.

LOL.The scrutiny should be high with the elk hunts because they're controversial and also bring out bad behavior such as in this case. The evidence was overwhelming and they probably could have hit them much harder than they did.I'll take the word of the guy who had the moral obligation to turn over the evidence vs an editor of the Centre daily times or your interpretation of the article.

If that is actually how it went down, and it can be proven, then violations occurred. With that said, what you are saying is hearsay and may or may not have been proven beyond a reasonable doubt in court. We do not know what evidence was presented to back it up and we do not know what evidence was presented to refute it. And by the way, ethics is a personal choice. All that matters are laws and regs.

I'll take the word of the guy who had the moral obligation to turn over the evidence vs an editor of the Centre daily times or your interpretation of the article. Actually, I would take the actual evidence presented in court and the refuting evidence over hearsay. I never interpreted the article. I simply said the article does not contain any evidence of actual violations. I would like to hear what was presented to refute the state's case.

The article clearly states that they got out of the truck and starting shooting within 10 feet of the road. That's a violation.

The article clearly states that they got out of the truck and starting shooting within 10 feet of the road. That's a violation. No its not unless they used the vehicle to locate the elk or they alighted the elk from the vehicle. You said that your buddy claimed that is what they did. There should be video that recorded the actual conversation that shows they saw the bull from the vehicle before exiting or phone records showing improper use of electronic devices. Maybe that exists? In the article, there is no mention of any hard evidence that actually shows a violation.

Look Gene. There's clear video evidence showing that's what they did along with video and audio evidence that they were tipped off by a phone call.It was illegal all the way around.

This is what ECO had posted on their facebook page last fall when the bull was killed. Friday morning dawned and we were happy to see that the fog was minimal and the bulls were bugling well. After a quick relocation from the area we started in at daylight, Rich was taking aim at the huge bull. Shortly after 7:20 Rich’s 6.5 Creedmore rang out as the bull was pushing cows at 136 yards. A second shot at around 175 yards and the bull was hit hard as he ran into the brush line.
As Rich neared the downed bull his emotions over came him as well as several of the ECO gang. We had a monstrous bull on the ground that we had many years of history with and it was almost bitter sweet. The bull that had gotten away several times, had been the main focus of shed hunting for years, and was a frequent topic of our camp fire stories had finally slipped up and we were able to close the chapter on this true PA monarch!
It was a road hunt from the second the hunt started that they tried to depict as a legitimate hunt. These guys are full of crap, give hunters a black eye and got what they deserved. The first year of the hunt,an older customer of mine drew an elk tag and hired ECO.He told me the story of his hunt and they never got out of the truck.

Gene, don't you think the judge heard both plaintiff/defendant, the reviewed all evidence presented, and made a ruling ? LOL. You're reading results from a "rag". And, why was the fine so high ? I mean, Alighting from a vehicle and illegal shooting, I doubt is a $5,000 fine under just about all circumstances ? Or was there a replacement cost added, since it was a trophy animal ?

Doug if your old client drew a tag and hunted the first year then he most certainly DID NOT hunt with ECO. They weren’t in existence as an outfit until the 2nd year of the elk hunt. That would be a false statement.

Maybe it was the 2nd year but it was ECO.
