Saw a doe first thing was going to shoot her til I saw she had a fawn. I dont like seeing the fawn run around lost when you shoot their mother. Soft I guess.

In the past two days I have had 3 different bucks chase does past me so fast that I couldn't count points on the racks. Yesterday, just after daylight I was set up about twenty yards from a scrape. A beauty of buck stopped at another, smaller scrape about 60 yards up the trail. He put his nose to the ground, turn 90 degrees and trotted up over the hill. He ignored the grunt and doe bleats I used to try to change his mind. Things are heating up enough that I'll be spending a cold, wet morning starting in about half an hour.

Good luck, but you should feel guilty and ashamed. Today is Thursday, and you are huntin. It's just not fair to all the hunters who are stuck at work or stuck in class. You should think about all the hunters who just can't hunt today, just to make it fair.

Took this morning off to wait out this nasty front and to recharge the batteries about 3 all day sits. Seen 25 bucks on those three days. A good portion of those were at mid day. Lots of chasing early in the week. Slower lately as I think there is some lock down occurring now.
Missed a good one. No idea what happened. Passed up several legal bucks. I think I am up to like 8-9 legal bucks passed this season. Seen several shooters that were too far.
Back at this this afternoon then all day sits Friday and Saturday.
For those that don't hunt mid day when its cold out, it can be some of the best movement of the day.

I REFUSE to shoot a Doe with a Fawn in tow nowadays. Back when I was a killer, I killed momma directly under my tree (rifle). Dropped like a stone. She had a BB directly behind her. The BB stood there frozen, then started baying and urinating everywhere. I damn near cried... actually, I may have cried. I threw my water bottle at it, yelled, it would not leave. NEVER again for me. I don't need to kill ANYTHING that bad to have to witness that again.

Saw two different bucks chasing last week at camp. One was running two doe around in a goldenrod patch across the road. Does would not leave the weeds, buck was running as fast as he could go, round and round in there. Best part of 20 minutes. Buck finally came out in a hay field, got his wind back and took off across the road towards the woods, nose to the ground.
Saw a nicer buck after dark, chasing and trying to mount a doe. She took off. That action was Saturday. Friday afternoon there were three shooters feeding together over in the next valley.
Saturday evening just before dusk, stopped on the road past camp to yak with one of the farmer neighbors. Down the road a bit, deer running back and forth. When I got down there, one small buck just off the road and one dandy, coming down towards the road. Nicest buck I've seen around there this year. Could be the same 10 point my cousin's son had on a trail cam up behind camp, back in September?

I worked, saved, and invested so that I could get to a point where I decide if, when, and what kind of work I will do. The guys at work today can be doing the same if an early retirement is something the feel is important to them. BTW, only saw one small legal buck this AM and a few does and fawns. Only the buck and one fawn was close enough. If the little buck shows up on the last day, I'll try to put him in the freezer.

But thanks to this wise move by the PGC MORE, many MORE, hunters get to hunt the opener without having to take a vacation day, miss a day's pay, of simply have to wait until the following Saturday. This effects nobody who wants to hunt on Monday, unless they are worried that all the deer will be dead by then confused-smiley-013

"unless they are worried that all the deer will be dead by then". That's the only reason it was changed for the crybabies.

You make no sense, tk. Now far MORE people will have a shot at opening day. Nobody should cry about that.
We owe the PGC a big thank you for doing this and making the opener on a day convenient for so many MORE hunters. Guys who own big tracts of private land available through a lease or friendly landowner shouldn't see much of a difference, but many hunters of public lands won't have to wait until the deer have been shot and chased for five days before they get a crack at them. Maybe the public lands will see the traffic they did a couple decades ago.

The day was changed because of whiners and crybabies saying they wanted a crack at the deer on first day. You have constantly in many posts used the terms "most, more, many". clearly ignornin the PGC's own survey stating the opposite. Hey,use what ever false statements you want, but at least "man up" and admit why it was changed.
