Red...you keep referencing inlines and flintlocks. An inline more than triples the effective killing range compared to a flintlock. Not so with a crossbow compared to a vertical bow. Meh. The issue isn't the effective killing range of these weapons in question. Granted, the inline will reach out, so will a X-bow. The better comparison is the ease of use of each type. Flinter vs. Inline. Recurve, Longbow, Compound vs. X-Bow. You can unwrap your new inline or x-bow today, and tomorrow, after a short few shots to dial in the scope, be 10 times more proficient with an inline/x-bow as you would the other alternative weapons for those respective seasons. Nobody, and I mean nobody, can honestly dispute that. Now, some may lyingly or kiddingly dispute that. Soooooooo, what it boils down to, is the impact to the resource. You want to piss off every archery hunter in the state, advocate for a "primitive" season that is the same timeframe and duration as the current archery season. Allow bows and muzzy's. Yep, from recurves to x-bows, and inlines to flinters. What do you think that would to the resource we call a Whitetail Buck ? How do you think the archers would feel about sharing that season ? LOL

An inline with open sights does not have triple the effective range of a flintlock. Now if we're talking about a scoped inline shooting smokeless powder, that's a different story.

Wasn't one of the sticking points for full inclusion the pro FI folks demand for telescopic sites?

Originally, that was the case but since so many disabled users already had scopes and not many crossbows came with open sights, they just scrapped it to the best of my knowledge. My position has really softened on crossbows.I have enough experience with one to know how much easier and more effective they can be but I just don't care anymore.I've seen enough people of all ages pick one up since inclusion and get back into the woods. To me,that's a good thing and I'm glad to see people out hunting.I'm not sure if that would have been a good thing 30 years ago but I believe it's a positive thing today. Is a healthy person taking the easy way out?Yep.Does it matter to me?Nope.I can become critical when I ditch my scoped rifles but I don't see that happening.

At the request of Skwirl, and I agree, I'm locking this thread

There will be no more crossbow debates on this board, period.

So sick of the crap on here. A guy makes a post about buying a weapon that extends his hunting career and it turns into this crap. I found a thread last night where a guy that has been gone for months, comes on just to make a dig at me. WTF is wrong with people? SERIOUSLY? Skwirl has had health issues. He's a TRUE hunter. All he wants is to continue to hunt. My Lord, my Dad at 90, would do ANYTHING to be out in the woods and can't. And this thing gets turned around? Anyone that wants to debate crossbows can, but not here. Do it at your own risk. I'm gonna hit the Ban Button next time, got it???

I just handed out a warning to a member. Next time this crap starts, and I do not care WHO starts it, they are gone.
IMO, Skwirl is owed an apology.
