We fished Delaware Bay on Monday (labor day)and got into some good sized croakers, kept 4 from 14 to 16 inch. Picked through about a dozen flounder to put three nice keepers in the boat. The largest being a 24 inch 6 pounder. Hate to admit this but the wife caught all the keeper flats. I had already started to clean the croaker when pic was taken

Nice catch there Duane!! Drifting was really slow last week in chincoteague but consistent crabbing hauls kept family well fed. The red drum run is just kicking off which i hope to hit in 2 weeks.

Some nice slabs there LH!! Will be making my first trip down to VA next week & plan to be down a lot into the fall. Hoping to catch the red drum & late striper run this year! The Mrs had some health issues which purdy much knocked the last 2 1/2 months out but now she's back to her ole mean & ornery self!!

Much of my post retirement time so far has been consumed enjoying the magnificent outdoors leaving minimal keyboard punchin time but on the contrary providing some scrumptious flounder meals coupled with a bountiful supply of crabs & clams!! Hoping to ck in on a more regular basis when the funs lets up. Comforting to see that Dutch saw fit to carry this site on irregardless of a few bumps along the way!
LH.......dem VA waters grow a few big flatties too!! The red drum run on the surf should be picking-up in a few weeks which this fall I will have time to partake with work not getting in the way!! lol

Hey Duane. Are those real fish you and your wife are holding up or are they stuffed from some fancy taxidermist? I'll bet they're stuffed and you're just trying to make us all feel bad. If they're real, what are you using for bait? Shiners, jigging or dynamite?

They are real. Got a freezer full of flounder to prove it.No dinamyte involved Ha Ha. I tie my own flounder teaser rigs and when tide and wind drift permit i jig 3 to 5 oz bucktails. Bait of choice on the bucktails or teasers can be anything from Berkly Saltwater Gulp ( shrimp, jerk shad, swimming mullet) or the old stand by squid and minnow. But my favorite is blue fish strips. It all comes down to throwing different bait at them and see what they are taking that day.
The flounder in the last pictures were all caught on a large minnow (3 to 5 inch) and cut squid strip on the same hook.
Loggy looks like yer making the most of that retirement thing. Congrats

Looks like you folks had a pretty nice year of floundering Duane. Those are some of the largest flounder I've seen.
Say, you're not raising those flounder off the coast somewhere like Lee and Tiffany are raising those big bucks in Iowa are ya?
