If you like to hunt wild mushrooms, the chants are plentiful right now. It would have been better about five days ago. Probably 90% were too old to be good, but we still brought home at least ten pounds. We have never seen so many as this year. We also found a few black trumpets. They are one of our favorites.

There just aren't very many predominantly Oak forests yonder here. Do you ever find them in forests that mostly lack Oak ?

Most of my woods are predominately white oaks with some cherry and red oaks mixed in. We have had a very wet summer and I have never seen as many as we found today. I have found them from mid June through Sept.-a couple years ago I found a couple pounds one the last Friday of archery season.
We also found an ash that had a couple pounds of oyster mushrooms on it but we missed them by a few days and they were too dry to be any good.
