I am going to play with some cast bullets in it. I did play a few years back but at 100 yards. This time i am going for 200 ! If you have never played with home cast bullets you missed a lot of cheap fun. I just use them for target shooting but i have no doubt that these would take a deer down? My 308 and my 30-06 are also good cast bullet guns.

We now have 100 yard cast bullet shoots at our club once a month. Mostly levers and single shots. The old coots that started that, were already going up to Montoursville to shoot, decided to get their own gig rolling here.
Had a neighbor that made excellent cast bullets, mostly with gas checks for rifles and pistols. Still have lots of his 158gr semi wad cutters that I shot in a 357 mag revolver. He even shot cast bullets in a 22-250, never could talk me into that. Passed away several years ago.
I have a Savage 340 in 22 Hornet with Weaver K2.5 on it. My first center fire rifle, bought used in '64 from the same guy I later bought the 1920s vintage M94 from, that year. One of my Potter cousins had a M340 in 30-30, another cousin has a later version in 222.

I still have a bunch of cast bullets for .357 and .44 magnum. A guy by the name of Jacob Suta did the casting. I think he was located around Newville or thereabouts. He used a wax gas check.

I just finished loading up 200 rounds of 44 magnum lead's for my revolvers. Easy plinking loads using 6.4gr of unique. The bullet is the Hornady 240gr lead and they are very accurate and I get very little leading from them. Nice range steel plate and paper loads. Hornady Bullet link

Never bothered with cast bullets in rifles. If I ever get the .32-40 I want I will start casting. May even load some "holy black" and hunt with it to relive the days of yore. But now I'm just pipe dreaming.
