Only managed to get out flintlock hunting on the last day on our potter lease. Went out in the morning and seen 6 doe, a spike and a 10 point at 50 yds that didnt offer a good shot but I knew where he was going to bed and where he would go when he got up later. So at 3 pm I snuck myself up a steep and deep stream onto the bench I knew he would come out on. With 40 minutes of the season left 17 doe come through with this guy nose to the ground chasing them all over. At 25 yds and minutes left of my season I put this bugger in the dirt. My first flintlock buck. 7 pt

The buck. I actually had to go back and check the pic. I couldn't have told you one thing about the hunter in the photo until I went back and looked again.

Awesome.I had the same thing happen to me.My son had a wrestling tournament in Ridgway but for once,we managed to make it home by 3:00pm.I decided to make one last ditch effort and hunted a stand that was about 1/2 mile walk from the house.I never hunted it this year because of the lack of activity but did see some fresh sign in their last sunday.I got settled in at 4:15 and an hour later a busted up 6 point came walking in.I debated bringing my bow because I didn't feel like cleaning the fl again but was glad I had the flintlock. He stopped about 60 yards out and an xtp to the neck ended my season.

Wasnt the big 10 I was waiting for but time was getting close to gone so I figured he was a decent buck so I dropped the hammer and closed him out. We git trail cam pics of this buck in velvet. I will try and get them on.

hey i remember that lyman..... I bet you do brother ! I love it and like you its all I carry as far as rifles for deer go. The looks you get during regular rifle when people see your carrying a flinter and not the high powered is the best. Thanks again for selling her to me and getting me started in this great addiction !
