I think I'd start adding the lime, then plant some buckwheat early in the year

I remember a soil test I had on a very small plot in the woods. I added lime, then took the test.
pH was 4.5 after adding lime. I was shocked how well the buckwheat grew at 4.5, inside the cage anyway. Outside, it was gone.
I eventually got the pH to 6.

You can only put 2 to per acre per year anyway.

Yep, it can't be rushed. You might be able to get some brassicas in next fall, or rye might be even better.
