This is a long, narrow log trail that I have had planted for the past 8 or 9 years. Way off a road, so, hauling lime, and fertilizer there is a chore. Needs to go in on an atv, bagged. I planted this with a clover mix maybe 4 years ago. It became grassy and weedy, and because I can't mow it, it's been tough to maintain. So, 4th of July weekend, we sprayed it with a very lite solution of Roundup, hoping to kill off the grasses and weeds. We came back the last week of July and found the clover coming in pretty well. Hauled in powdered lime and limed it, then ran a disc over it slightly to create some furrows. We then seeded it with a bit more clover. Here are the results. We are pretty darned happy, to say the least. Maintaining such a remote plot is always a challenge and its nice when things go right.

That looks great. I'd be pleased as well with that outcome.

The Roundup killed all the weeds and tall grass, and left the clover. I think the powdered lime and 10-20-20 really gave it a "kick"

I'm really starting to regret tearing up my clover and putting in Brassica this year. I just have my two young cousins coming up with my uncle as mentors this year, and I wanted them to get a crack at a doe or young buck this year. I think I'm putting it back in this spring. It seemed to attract a wider variety of game, rather than just deer, vs the brassica.

I had my plot split between the 2. half clover, half brassicas. This year, half wheat, half clover.
Gives you the best of both worlds, plus allows for rotation of crops and resting of soil.

Yeah might try that whole half and half thing again. I did that a couple years ago with clover and sunflowers. Then tilled the sunflowers under and seeded turnips. Seemed to be one of my better years for plotting.
I really like the sunflowers too since it even feeds the even the non game birds.
