I took this pic in January 2010, before we pruned this apple tree. Notice, not much growing around the tree and you can see a distance. That is the result of a lot of deer. The growth you do see, hadn't ben there in 2002. Last week, I had to take Roundup into that area under the tree to kill multiflora rose, ash, etc that is coming up. As of now, that entire area, you cannot get a shot at a deer at much more than 30 yds, if that.

How is the apple production on tht puppy? All it seems to take is a little trimming and no late season frosts and you have a bumper crop.

We have apples for the first time since 2011. Have been frozen out the other years. I can't keep up keeping apple trees open. One thing is that in the one area, we now have apple trees coming up naturally, from seeds. Unheard of 15 years ago. This pic was taken in 2004. This area is now impenrtrible. This one taken in 2003 Here is how the area of the previous 2 pic looks today.

Looks like a good thick spot for many whitetails to hide. I like it ! It was a spot just like that where my brother shot his hog laat season on our lease. Thick and 5 diff apple trees in a 30 yd area. Perfect!
