The rocks in the last 2 pics are no larger then your had. Anything else we tossed. The pictures do funny things and the storms washed the underlining rocks bare. Nature of the beast up north I guess.

There's the remnants of an old rock pile fence up at the top of my camp property. The north/south portion is on my line. The due east section borders the big field where the rocks came from and another neighbor's woods. That original land once belonged to one of the first families that settled in the valley back in the late 1700s. All was cleared by "horse power", which annoyed my uncle, who commented in the 1990s that it was a shame to see so much farm land reverting back to woods, after all that hard work to clear it in the 1800s. Unc's barn was built before the house and the house was built in 1892. Latecomer, as his farm was divided off from land belonging to another "original" family that's been there since the mid-1800s, when they made a farm for a son in the 1890s. There's an almost identical house up the road apiece, that is about ten years newer than my uncle's old house. Another son got that farm, but the barn burned down long before I was born. Farmhouse up the road from camp is being remodeled for the owner's son that got married last fall. Stopped up for a pester when I was at camp over the Fourth. They found newspapers in the walls of the original part of that house, dating to the Civil War. At least most of that farm is still intact and being worked yet, except for one pasture near me. Ain't a farm around there that doesn't have rocks along a fencerow someplace on it. It's chuck full of rocks of all shapes and sizes. Thirty five years ago a family from Berks Co. bought a big dairy farm over the hill from camp. Didn't take long before the locals noticed the big transport disc sitting over there, that they'd fetched along and wondered how long they'd try to use that, before giving up? Took a few trips thru a plowed field and that did it. Then the new guy brought in a "rock picker" to try and clean up the fields. That didn't last either. No till is a wonderful thing.

Do you rent him out cheap? I dont know if you want him. He contracts to hunt the land he works. Seems he always has the knack of sticking a good buck every year on ground he works. He's lucky with the bucks and I am lucky with the longbeards. We make a good balanced team. We hunt well together and always make sure that what ground I get to hunt he doea also and vis versa. We always work together. Its what brothers are supposed to do , aint?

Yes sir! Brother is seeding and fertilizing the dirty plot as I type this. There was more rain this evening. Not sure where your plots are, but maybe they got some. Timing of rain is pretty important. I'll take an evening rain event, where the ground stays moist until mid morning sun dries it out, to an early morning rain. Those seeds that sit there overnight, in damp soil, pop a whole lot quicker.

Yep they got rain. Brother said it rained most of the late afternoon theu evening. The upper plot only gets full sun for maybe 3 hrs and the lower "dirty" plot only gets sun from 10 am. on. It is on the north side of the mtn. & in the lowest spot of the property and is lined with big maples on its east side. It seems both areas it always took the dew a long time to burn off. One of the reasons we picked the two spots we did.

A farmer in Potter once told me the dew up there can make all the differnce in the world to plants. I believe him. Yeah I am always amazed how heavy the dew is on a daily basis up there compared to Lancaster. A lot of mornings I take the dog out at 5 am. and the grass isn't even damp. I cant say I have ever done that in northern Potter. Its either heavy dew or frost. Rarely a dry morning. Things start getting dewy up there about a hour before dark.

WOW! Some REAL nice ones..... Yeah we are praying they hang around once the plots jump. Between the plots and the acre of hinge cutting we did in February we are hoping its enough for these boys to call home.

WOW! They are doing very well! Thanks Dutch ! We are heading up this weekend to finish a steel porch roof for the grandparents and hopefully get some urea on the plots before Saturdays pm rains. Hard to believe right where tht fawn is standing there was a 4 wheeler trail cutting right across the middle of our plot by a trespassing neighbor. A couple posted signs in the middle of his path coming onto us and a stern talking to and in 1.5 weeks time those turnips covered it in.
