My 16 year old brass is getting past it's useful life so I set out to find more about a month ago. Both Brownells and Midway told me Win discontinued making 300 wsm.Why in the heck would they do that? The 300 wsm is a very popular round that should win the test of time. All I could find was Nosler and NORMA so I bit the bullet and bought 100 rds of Norma for over 200 bucks.I considered selling the rifle but I really like it and I have close to $1800 into it.It shoots so good for what it is and I'd hate to part with it but man,the brass is insane.

Couldn't get the link to work, but learned long ago to search high and low if something wasn't in stock at my usual sources.
Got to the point some years ago, that I finally needed new 8x57 Mauser brass. No one seemed to have any in R-P, but Widener's had some Winchester (?) and they were kinda pricey. So I ordered 100 pieces. Month or so later seemed like every online source had R-P 8x57 brass and at a better price than I had paid.
Back in the 80s when my huntin' bud and I were doing lots of 'chuck hunting, we split a large order from Midway, as they had good prices on R-P brass at the time. Two 500 lot boxes each of 22-250 and 25-06, that he and I divied up and some 100 lot batches of a few other varieties.
When I started reloading you could get 100 new R-P cases of the 30-06 family, for less than $18. Haven't bought any online in years, but did get 50 new R-P 25-06 cases from a friend for $10. He'd got them at an estate auction and that's what he had in 'em, figured I could use some more.

Sorry about the link. It was to Natchez Shooters Supply www.natchezss.comGo there and do a search for .300 WSM. They have the ammo and brass in stock. The ammo and brass is not cheap there, or at Midway. www.midwayUSA.comThe rumor circulating is that they are discontinuing the super short magnums, not the short magnums. Rounds like the .300 WSM and .270 WSM are probably here to stay. I often wondered whether or not the WSSM cartridges were an answer to a question nobody ever asked or not. confused-smiley-013
