They say it is temporary and just until they update their process. Not sure if this smells a bit fishy or not.

The "usual suspects" will use it as more fodder for their campaigns for more gun control, because some hear about online firearms sales and assume it's a bad thing.
Yep, firearms can be bought new and used via online sites. Guns America and Gun Broker are popular sites for new/used long guns and have been for some time.
The antis fail to point out that all such online transactions involving non-black powder longarms of certain criteria, must go through an FFL chosen by the buyer.
Over the past week I've heard at least a dozen antis on TV, running their mouths about stopping online sales and closing the gunshow loophole, thus creating the notion that such sales involve no background checks as required by law.
The dreaded gunshow loophole exists only in some states, where face-to-face sales of rifles/shotguns between that state's (non FFL dealer) residents are legal and then only when a gunshow permits it, which some organized shows do not.
PA is one of those states that allows such transactions. I have bought/sold long guns a few times and most I know require the photo ID of the buyer/seller, for their own protection.

All the more reason to just head over to the Local Gun Shop.
I bought a pistol from Gallery Of Guns online last year... great experience. Had it shipped to my LGS, done and done in two days. All on the up and up, which is what most people don't realize... they think it gets shipped to you cocked & locked.
That being said, I bought another pistol through Bud's Guns Shop online last year as well... after the other one. My LGS wouldn't accept it! They felt like they were losing business. Gander Mountain wanted $75! Long story short, I was able to cancel the order without penalty with Bud's and my LGS had the same thing at the the shop that day.
Moral of the story: Just go to your LGS.

I bought a Savage Model 99 in .300 Savage this summer from Williams Gunsite Company in Davidson, Michigan. A local FFL licensee did the transfer for me. Not much difference from buying a gun from his stock in terms of background check, etc. Another straw dog for the antis to get all wussy about.
