Walk behind? Translation, please. Since the PTO clutch died on my camp tractor, cousin's son has been keeping my trails/grassy openings cleared with a pull behind Swisher and his Polaris ATV. He has both a finish mower and a brush hog mower, but only the bush hog one is a Swisher. Thirty years ago I was doing such things using a big Echo "weed eater" w/shoulder strap.

Was what it was. When my parents were still around, also kept about a quarter acre near the cabin cleared with that Echo, a blade attachment and the line trimmer head. Once uncovered a football-sized yeller jacket ground nest while doing that. Lucky fer me, something had already dug it up and wiped it out. Annual July fourth trip ritual: Clear that area below the driveway and out to the edge of the woods, just to keep the old folks happy. Too rocky to mow, so every summer spent parts of a day and a half, keeping it from growing up in briars and saplings. Stopped doing that about twenty years ago, after my dad had passed away. No multi flora rose around there to fuss with back then, now it's everywhere that isn't regularly mowed. Coupla years ago a farmer neighbor rented a "grinder" doohickus for on his skid loader and spent a week tearing up the multi flora infestation in his beef pastures across the road from camp.

Hope it does the job for you. We've had a go-round with mowers and equipment this spring. Bout everything with a motor had problems.....I know the saying, "if it has wheel or tXts it'll cause you problems.
Our 22 year old Steiner quit.....hydro went completely numb. The estimates from Messicks ran from $1,600 to more than $6,000 depending on if it was trans-axle(s), hydraulic pump, or hydraulic motor(s). They only offered us $2,000 on trade two years ago, so I had a certified dilemma on my hands. I tore things apart and found a bearing in the rear hydraulic motor that was bad......$14,53 cent part. With seals and shipping I had less than $20.00 in repairs.....took her out for a try out yesterday and it worked but there is still something wrong in the rear trans-axle. Might sell it for parts while it still runs.................?

My brother has one Craig and it works well.A few years ago,I bought a cheap toro walk behind string trimmer. The thing was a beast and did way better than I expected it today.Unfortunately,I lost it to an ethanol addiction this past spring. From now on,all of my small engines get nothing fed to them except the small expensive cans of pre-mixed fuel.

There's a Gulf about twenty minutes away, that sells ethanol-free fuel at the pump. It's 89 octane and runs about 20 cents more per gallon than 87 octane "regular", but worth it. Time to head down and fill the 2.5 gallon can again.

There are two Countryfair stores here that sell ethanol free gas at the pumps, one in Meadville and one in Linesville on route 6, it cost more but we run it in our boats, and they sell it on Sundays too!
