Okay. Got the soil tests back today. Cut off the top of the papers with my information. The first is where I have had the food plot for the last several years. The next one is where I plan on putting the corn. I put alot of lime on it about 1.5 years ago. Some of it is still on top of the ground since it was never tilled in. Not sure how much lime I will put on it. Corn is recommended to be 6.0-6.5 anyway.

Anyone know if you can get 0-46-0 locally as the one soil test calls for? I am sure if I got a big amount I would be able to order, but I only need 50lbs for that plot.

I think you actually need 100 lbs.
Your test says you need 50 lbs per acre, but, 0-46-0 means that 46% of a 50 lb bag is P.
So, you need 100 lbs at 46% to get 46 lbs per acre.
Unless I'm reading your test wrong.
If the plot is only a half acre, then a 50 lb bag will be enough.

But yes, it can usually be gotten locally.

Yes plot is little less than 1/2 acre. Thanks for the info.

The Agway where I get fertilizer has nitrogen, phosphorous and potassium bagged separately.
The farm store in Tioga County where I get some stuff has the same.
Don't think you'll have a problem.

Ended up planting tyrone forage soybeans in half and did Ladino Clover in the other. The soybeans are looking pretty good, but the clover is just getting thru the ground.

Looks good! I planted a 1/2 acre of field corn last Sunday and it's up already! Going to do turnip and clover this August.

Let me know how the Tyrones do. Planted them last year, deer did not touch them. I sprayed them with Roundup. Still have a bag left.....
I planted regular soys yesterday. Probably the best plot I ever planted was those soys last year. Deer hammered the crap out of them in late November. I planted 3/4 acre yesterday, vs half that last year.

I have a small spot just inside my woods that I planted clover in years ago. I have always kept it mowed during summer, let it grow toward fall. Over the years it turned to just lawn.....some weeds. Last fall I sprayed it all with round up and killed it all off. Went in in early April and frost seeded it all back with clover. The clover seems to be doing good, but a few spots the weeds are coming as well. For a small lazy mans food plot, it looks like it will do well.
Cspot, your plot looks good !

Soybeans are doing well. So far, no deer have gotten in that I can see. Fencer quit working about a week ago, so I haven't had any power on it. Haven't had a chance to call. I figure the local deer got hit the first week or so and have left it alone. ALso helps that right now there is a ton of other stuff to eat.

Boy, you sure must have gotten good moisture.
Mine germinated in a week. Sounds like they are sorta spotty, but they'll come along.

I am surprised that I got as good as coverage. When seeding I was having a tough time telling where I had already seeded. I expected some big holes that I missed. It has gotten the rains at the right times which has helped alot. I will probably remove the fence in a month or so anyway to let the deer have at it.

How many acres and how many bags did you use?

Only planted about 1 acre maybe a little less and used 1 bag. It was the Tyrone Forage Soybeans which I think is what you used last year?

Yes, I have a bag left. Will be interesting to see how the deer hit them.

I just put two bags on an acre. Think that might have been too much? LOL

I just put two bags on an acre. Think that might have been too much? LOL I was always guilty of over doing it when it came to putting seed on and it definitely hurts production. Starting last year, I have only been putting on what it calls for and figure if some of it is a little thin than so be it.

In July, when I hit mine with Roundup, I'll put some urea on them to give them a boost.

Soybeans are doing well. The clover I planted isn't doing so hot. It came up spotty and has alot of weeds. Clover to me always looks better in year 2 though.

My beans are being rain starved right now. Not much in the forecast either.

My beans are being rain starved right now. Not much in the forecast either. We have been getting some rain here at key times. The ground up there seems to hold the moisture well too.

Ok. Here is an updated pic of the beans. It has been almost 7 weeks since I planted. Do you think it is time to take down the fence?

That looks great! Keep that fence up! The field corn I planted is all waste high, it's doing great! Your right about the timely rain around here for sure. I'll be spraying with round up in 2 weeks and then finishing my plots for the season.
