Explains why it's so hard to find 22 mag ammo. I mainly shoot CCI's Game Point ammo which is virtually impossible to find. Glad a stocked-up some a few years back.

Any time something has been determined to have become scarce, most will stock up on what they can find, out of fears that things will just get worse.
People have been hoarding 22 ammo for the past few years. Some do so in order to "cash in" on the fears of others, which is why we see 22 ammo offered at inflated prices.
I pick up a box or two now and then, but only if the price is reasonable and it is something I want. This is why I've never run low on 22 ammo in my adult life. Been a habit of long standing, to keep several thousand rounds of favorite ammo on hand.
Have always kept a good stock of 500+ count Fed. Value Pack ammo around, as it shoots well in most of my rifles.
Since the shortage began, I have given away about three or four boxes of that ammo, when and where it was needed: Club youth 22 program, when they had no practice ammo; Assorted club events for others to shoot; To parents who couldn't find any ammo for their kids and so on. So have others I know, that tended to keep lots of ammo on hand and are sharing it during these times of scarcity.
Point #1: Ya can't share it (or shoot it yourself), if ya weren't already in the habit of always keeping plenty on hand.
Most of the folks I see that are fussing about finding no 22 ammo, are those that bought a few 50 round boxes each year and now can't find any on the shelves.

We have a bunch of Lapua 22 LR SK 40gr LRN Standard Plus 50 round box in stock for 6.10 a box. And Lapua 22 LR Midas + 40grn LRN 50rd which is a bit more costly at $17.28 box of 50.

My personal favorite 22 Mag ammo is the Hornady "gummy tip" stuff. I find it consistently accurate with no flyers, and the explosive tip always does a number on a groundhog if that happens to be the target of choice.
