Hunted Friday evening, saturday morning and this morning/early afternoon. Saw some rutting activity, no crazy chasing or anything but it's definately started on my place. Little bucks seem to be moving a lot but did see two mature bucks out with does, one mid day saturday.
Not sure what will happen once the weather warms up later in the week.

Been seeing alot of cruising bucks over the past few days. No chasing yet in my spots.
I smoked a 8 point yesterday morning. Will probably head back out this afternoon as I still have a few doe tags or maybe I will take the 17hmr for a turkey.

Congratulations Ridge. Actually, we've been seeing a ton of rut activity since midway of last week! My kid had two real good shooters, (at different times), on the wrong side of him in some heavy cover. I passed on a young 9-point that was "insisting" I kill him by showing up in the dooryard yesterday and hanging out right by the house for 30 minutes even after I passed on him and spooked him --- at 10 yards while on stand Monday evening. We've also had several youngsters on the field edge each day. One is real wide 1-1/2 yo 8 point. But then --- a really nice 10 point escorted an estrus doe into the field while I was in doing some errands. Got pictures though...... The young 9 point --- will be a great buck next year: Young, wide 8 point. Another one that'll be a dandy if he makes it two years more: Pretty darn nice, shooter, 10 point. Poor photo due to low light:

Went out this morning and with high winds actually saw some 2 for sure maybe 3 had a one horn spike come into me at 8 yards he looked crazy so I think he was feeling it and then had a 3 point come in at 15 yds I could have shot both but not enough points hopefully a legal one comes in on Monday it's the last day I can go.

If everything goes well today at work I am going to head up to camp this afternoon after the boys get out of school. No school here on Monday so we may stay at camp and hunt for the bears also, Not sure what the kids want to do yet. Need to go and check my other cam that has been there for the last couple of weeks now.

Dutch, Good luck to you also, Not sure if RJ is headed to camp yet with us as he is watching a big in cameron co. He already burned a couple tags between archer and muzzleloader season so far. I will say that he sure does like to hunt a lot harder that than his younger brother! Good luck to all.

Good golly I totally forgot about the season ending on Monday and told the wife only two more days of putting up with me disturbing our routine early each morning and then having to hold supper until I get home and in the evening!
I saw two dink bucks this evening and a doe fawn. The young bucks are still nudging everything they see but I haven't seen a sign of a mature buck in a while.

Seeing only the same dink 1-1/2 year old buck while on stand.
The wife and I were setting up another stand midday yesterday, (yes a "last minute" adaption), when I spotted movement about 85 yards away in heavy brush. I pointed it out as -- "a deer moving" and Kate whispered --- "no, it's a "big buck." Sure enough, it was definitely a rack buck but I couldn't tell much more.
We were close to a bedding area and I'm guessing he was bedded but our presence made him a little too nervous to hang around. I'll hunt that stand on Monday and see what happens.
I hunted this morning until the does, 7 of them, and a familiar dink buck passed from the fields to the bedding area. There just was no sign of rut activity. He never even nudged a single doe or showed any interest in them..................?
