I ate the 2 containers of ice cream that I bought yesterday, just in case the power goes off and it goes to waste. ;D But, Loggy just gave me an idea. I just filled up a bunch of the big coffee cans and stuffed them in the freezers to freeze over night. I'm in town, so, will have running water, pretty much no matter what, I hope. I do have soda, beer, water and wine, so, I won't get thirsty. Got 3 loves of bread, peanut butter and stores of Gal made jelly, so, no way I'm gonna starve! Oh, forgot, about a 1/2 pound of sweet bologna as well. YUM YUM

The infamous Met-Ed service here will always go down even if there's a slightest hint or pending fart of a storm.
Main thing for me is a lot of ice & BIG Freezer chests.

I came home from Potter County early to keep an eye on the basement since my wife is a essential employee at HMC. Brought the generator home and stocked up on some gas and grub. Pumps are ready to pump water but hopefully dont have to. Last september i was up in potter and almost didnt make it home due to flooding. I was supposed to be up all week but I will head back up later in the week and stay all next week

If yer power goes off, I'll run the 50 miles to yer place and save yer venison for you. I'll put it in my freezer down here. I PROMISE you'll get the tenderloins back, really.

I did get milk and bread tonight but only b/c I was out of those things anyway. I'm considered an essential employee at my work and was told by my boss to bring clothes for two night stay in a hotel in Pittsburgh if necessary. My wife is not happy so hopefully it's not a big deal. I don't really want to stay either but if I do, hopefully the hotel bar has power

I ate the 2 containers of ice cream that I bought yesterday, just in case the power goes off and it goes to waste.Worked on that earlier this evening, but didn't encourage her to work on her Turkey Hill Rocky Road stash. She's on a diet, so we can just throw her's out if it thaws? I ain't on a diet and refuse to waste one drop of my Breyers. Got extry water and firewood in, gutters were blowed out yesterday. Next to the Stihl chainsaw and the 8HP snowblower, the Echo leaf blower is my next favorite power trinket. I always have C D, AA and AAA batteries on hand and charged my spotlight. Always have extra candles. Making more ice, already had a bag in my freezer. Only thing I can't find, is my three D cell Maglite?? No biggie, got a half dozen other flashlights handy.

If you don't have a generator and the power goes out and need heat before it goes to waste open up your flochecks on top (turn them to the left and don't forget to tighten them down once the power comes back on)of the boiler the gravity will feed the heat through the pipes it will only last as long as it stays warm but at least it isn't going to waste. in case you don't know what a flo check is

Woke up at 5 AM and it was almost dead calm. Now it's picking up. They say this afternoon and into tonight will be the worst. It is strengthening a bit and picking up speed, which makes it worse along the coast with the high tides.

Kind odd. All the model showed it coming up the east/center of the state. The brunt of it now looks to be moving right accross the southern half of the state.

When you live in a house with three wimmen, TP IS a big deal, which I why I hid a couple bales of it in the basement. Filled all my five gallon buckets with water for 'flushing' all that TP, too. Since I started getting ready for the possibilities five and a half days ago, I'm down to the drink until you remember what you forgot stage. Seriously, I am, this time as ready as we can get for whatever. Biggest relief for me is my neighbors finally took this one seriously, too. I dunno how they did it...but serious metric tons of firewood suddenly, mystically, moved to much higher ground, and all the high spots in the valley look like there will be big machinery/vehicle auctions there soon. On a sad note, all those folks who said last September's mess here was a once in a lifetime event, and simply swamped out, repaired/re-built...are walking around looking like they've just been punched in the gut. I'm sure there will be that post battle/post accident/post trauma mental thing for those of us who chose to get out or build UP^^...if they are hit again?? OK. Back to calculating rainfall predictions for this watershed, based on latest travel speed and direction of that bloody eye....

Sufficient TP is never an issue here. She keeps a 6 month supply at all times and I am not joking. Oddlly enough, if I swipe one four roll pack for "my" basement bathroom, from her doomsday stash, she instantly realizes one of the usual 25 to 30 four packs is missing and demands an accounting for the shortfall. Our paper towel collection is only slightly smaller than the TP one. And she calls me a hoarder? Gusty winds picking up here and it's been raining on and off all morning. Temp is around 50 at the moment.

I'm back in Pgh and helped the daughter et ready yesterday by flea bombing the house and giving both the dog and the cat a bath.
The bright side is; with all of our "prep" work to bomb, the house hasn't been this "clean" since last Christmas, lol.
Already had a freezer full of food.
I figure if the power goes out, we'll be OK. She was without a furnace for 2 weeks last year. Mine took the death leap Christmas day and I had to order from the company in PA that "makes" them. Its an electric boiler. She put one of the tents on her bed; electric blanket underneath and a good sleeping bag and did just fine; refusing to go to "grandmas", lol.
If our power goes out; we'll be without heat totally this time with an all electric house, but I have a gas grill all loaded up I can cook on (yes, I'll crack a window); and the tents and sleeping bags will be on the beds with body and hand warmers providing a little heat.
I rely on Brad for weather updates and this AM he told me its not supposed to be too bad here, but just in case; we do have a plan, lol.

Ed, no one is predicting any serious flooding this time. The main worry will be downed powerlines from the wind.
4-6 inches of rain predicted here, and much less upstate, over a 2 day period. The Loyalsock will come up, but not like last year.
But then forecasters have been worng once or twice before. LOL
