I will check at one of our local emporia, Keystone Country Store in Fort Loudon, PA. They ususally have some .35 remington on hand. It was the last place I could get factory .303 Savage ammo. Just a word of advice. If you like the .35 remington, get set up to reload it. That is the only way to be certain you will have it.

yeah its my fathers gun i dont think he will ever get into reloading. iv looked around and its a fairly popular round on the east coast so i dont think they will stop making it for a while. at least i hope not. he used the ammo shortage as an excuse to buy a new 30-06 for this year though haha

I'd find some bullets on line and see if someone will reload them for you.My son and I went spotting last night and there was a bad with 150 30-06 cases, primers, bullets and two can of IMR4350 on my porch when we got back.Apparently sometime in the past 4 years,I must have mentioned to my one neighbor that I'd reload some shells for him, even though I don't remember lol.

Natchez lists .35 rem as out of stock. None of the other suppliers have them in stock either.

They stopped making it almost two years ago along with a whole bunch of other cartridges. Between hoarding and military/government contracts there is a brass shortage and the big ammo makers have prioritized. 35 Remington did not make the priority list.

Also...for some reason 22 rimfire mags are also hard to find.

You need to be a reloader to make them available these days! The 'seasonal' runs have all but vanished with the skewed concerns assigned to more popular rounds. Brass is then the issue. I've found 'Grumpa' on CastBoolits.com provides brass, contrived by a six step process from LC 308 win cases for 50 cents each + shipping. They work great but you are required to use a 308 shellholder on your press. I shoot them from my contender with great results.

Nearly a buck apiece! Get outta here! Grumpa's brass works fine at half the price.

finally found some.apparently they only make it for a few weeks at the factory's and when the big ammo scare of 14 happened they all the ammo manufactures said screw it to any seasonal round and just produced 5.56. they said this year they should go back into production. ammoseek.com/ pretty good site when looking for ammo

Ammo manufacturers have long done seasonal runs of rifle ammo that is not typically in large demand. They do them in time to have stock on hand prior to fall hunting seasons, when such "out of fashion" ammo is in demand.
When I still got fairly current cataglogs from the distributors in our area like Bonitz and Shirk (from a bud that had an FFL), there was always a long listing of such seasonal ammo in there.
Stuff like 35 Rem, 257 Roberts, 7 and 8 mm Mauser, 32 Special, etc. Fall is generally the only time there is much demand for this stuff, so they do a run in the spring or summer and put it out in the supply chain. Get it when ya can find it, because when it's gone, it's gone until next fall.
Meant to add that when I found a 50s vintage Marlin 336SC in 35 Rem many years ago, stocked up on Rem. 200gr Core Lokts at the same time. I have dies and will eventually have lots of brass, so if the day comes that I need ammo, will pick a bullet and roll some ammo up. It's not a rifle that gets fired much, so will probably never really need any more ammo for it?

It's a shame how much things have changed in the last 8 or 10 years. At one time the local Walmart had a huge stock of "oddball" ammo starting in October. Mostly Rem. Core Lokts, it filled an entire endcap across from where the firearms were in the sporting goods section at the time.
I recall such stuff as the two Mauser cartridges, 257 Bob, 32 Special, 44-40 Win, 45-70, 303 British and many others to choose from. Been at least 10 years since that ceased to be.
One year I spotted two boxes of Rem. 250 Savage behind the counter and asked the clerk what was up with that? He said a customer had asked him to order some because none of the gunshops had any, or indicated any willingness to try and order him some.
That particular clerk still works at Walmart, but has been in the paint department for years. He was fairly knowledgeable about firearms, no idea why they put him in the paint department?
Here's most of the seasonal Winchester list from a 2006 Jerry's (Bonitz) catalog, which is twice as long as Remington's, with many of the ones offered by Rem, plus these: 307 Win; 6mm Rem; 225 Win; 25-35 Win; 284 Win; 300 Sav; 35 Rem; 358 Win; 356 Win; 348 Win; 375 Win; 38-40; 38-55; 458 Win mag;30 Luger; 32 short Colt; and more.
Remington's seasonal run: 220 Swift; 25-20; 250 Savage; 257 Bob; 6.5 Swede; 264 Win. mag; 7mm STW; 338 Win mag; 30-40 Krag; 32-20; 32 Spl; 35 Whelen; 44-40; 41 Rem mag; plus some I left out. As of 2006, Rem wasn't listing 35 Rem as seasonal? Last I knew, Federal still made a 200gr load in 35 Rem?
Struck me odd that Rem didn't offer the 6mm Rem and Win didn't offer the 220 Swift at the time?

As Denny said earlier, the smart thing to do if one has a rifle in a caliber that is not one of the most favored, such as .35 remington, is to buy a set of dies for it. Even if you don't own a reloading press yourself, one of your buddies probably does, and if he is really a buddy he will teach you how to do the reloading thing and let you use his press once a year or so. Heck, Scout, I don't know you from Adam but if you get a set of dies I would help you out.

yeah ill probably look into some dies sometime in the near future. as i said it was my father looking for the rounds so i don't own the rifle however he will most likely never sell it so one day i will inherit it and i would love to use it. It surprises me Remington dosnt make .35 anymore from my understanding its not really used on the west coast but on the east coast it used to be one of the most sought after cartridges.

Denny is correct about the seasonal runs......the bad part is most manufacturers haven't had a seasonal run in several years

Gotta stop at my local gunshop sometime soon to pester the owner anyway, will have him check to see if he can get me any 35 Rem. I see some online sources have it at around $32 per 20, but all are "out of stock".
Cripes, think I paid less than $20 per box the last time I bought any, 6 or 7 years ago?

It's a real 'brush buster' fer sure! Loaded with 200 gr. bullets deflection through normal shooting conditions here in the Blue Ridge is minimal.

You have a pm. I found a bunch of .35 Remington 200 grain ammo at Keystone Country Store in Fort Loudon. They have about 20 or so boxes.

Wow,if that's just run of the mill Remington, that's insane.I like to shoot my guns and feel it's important to do so.You won't do much shooting at that price.
